[Bottle] Pours deep red with a small white head. Aroma is weird. Pistachio and stale cigarette smoke. Well, hopefully that will improve as it warms. After warming, the aroma has changed, but not improved. Now I mainly get musty, mildew scents. Not good. After significant warming (>1 hour), the unpleasant aromas fade, and are replaced by a vaguely sweet (light cinnamon and apple at times) and malty smell. Pretty muted, but at least it isnít bad. The taste is okay, and better than the aroma. Warming definitely improves this aspect of the beer as well. A little caramel popcorn and hardtack and a really pleasant finish. Really love that malt profile in the finish. Good mouthfeel, long finish. Overall, a weird beer that was verging on being a drainpour when cold, but that drastically improved after letting it sit for over an hour. In fact, I donít know that I have ever had a beer make such a drastic change as this one did with significant warming. Yet another reason to enjoy an entire bottle over an extended period of time rather than just tick a small sample over the course of a few minutes. My overall score is reflective more of the warmed beer than the cold one, which I probably was going to give in the high 1ís to low 2ís.

Bottle poured a clear reddish brown with a small lingering tan head. Aromas of caramel, peat smoke, tobacco and light fruitiness. Palate was light to medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of toffee, tobacco, peat smoke and light earthiness with a smooth dry lingering smokey finish.

12 oz bottle, poured into a shaker pint at approximately 40 degrees F. A: During the pour, the beer looks like weak tea, with watery spots that appear almost clear. Minimal head forms atop it in the glass, where it resembles a stronger tea with a slight reddish tinge. What head does form dies to a ring swiftly, and leaves little to no tracing behind. S: A base of warm, toasty bread meets the inside of an old wooden barrel that was used to carry a tree bark mulch, with a tinge of autumn-dried leaves skittering along the surface. T: Right up front, an earthy bitterness strikes, sharp-edged and lined with smoke and damp wood. It quickly fades into a sweet, toasty caramel malt, before the finish recedes as something not unlike a lightly smoked toffee. M: Light with mildly sharp carbonation, this beer is eminently drinkable. O: This is one of the more unique lagers Iíve tried, and rest assured, it is in fact a bock lager and not at all a Scottish ale. The smoke and malt play off one another quite well. I repeat this beer any time I happen to be near Iowa City (Go Hawkeyes).

From bottle. Pours caramel brown with a tan head. Aroma of my favorite song is amazing but it would mean the world and I don't think that it was. Notes of caramel and smoke and dry grain. Flavour is thickly and satisfyingly malty. Finish is dry to just slightly sweet. Great and refreshing.

12oz bottle. Scottish Lager. Filtered amber-brown body. Foamy beige head. I canít quite place the aroma, some odd oily amber chocolate malt. Definitely off in some way, some of those garbage tones. Weird, amateur stuff, no brewing prowess displayed at all. Aroma keeps getting worse. Pretty bad, but an interesting concept.

Draft - Wood, light smoke and toast. Copper with a thin beige head. Toasted malts, caramel, smoke and more toast. Peat is pretty light and balanced.
