3.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
[Bottle] Pours deep red with a small white head. Aroma is weird. Pistachio and stale cigarette smoke. Well, hopefully that will improve as it warms. After warming, the aroma has changed, but not improved. Now I mainly get musty, mildew scents. Not good. After significant warming (>1 hour), the unpleasant aromas fade, and are replaced by a vaguely sweet (light cinnamon and apple at times) and malty smell. Pretty muted, but at least it isnít bad. The taste is okay, and better than the aroma. Warming definitely improves this aspect of the beer as well. A little caramel popcorn and hardtack and a really pleasant finish. Really love that malt profile in the finish. Good mouthfeel, long finish. Overall, a weird beer that was verging on being a drainpour when cold, but that drastically improved after letting it sit for over an hour. In fact, I donít know that I have ever had a beer make such a drastic change as this one did with significant warming. Yet another reason to enjoy an entire bottle over an extended period of time rather than just tick a small sample over the course of a few minutes. My overall score is reflective more of the warmed beer than the cold one, which I probably was going to give in the high 1ís to low 2ís.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours red with a medium head and light lacing. Aroma is sweet, almost tangy, with lingering smoke. Flavor is big caramel malts at the start, giving way to a nice, dry bitter midsection and a big sinus-filling smoke. Finish is mostly smoke with a slight yeasty, then grassy end.

2.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 11/20
The best part is the aroma. Thereís a nice smokiness, along with some of the hops. As for the mouthfeel (damn I feel pretentious saying that word, but the alternative is "way it feels in your mouth", which is somehow dumber), it sticks like cough syrup, where the sweetness of the malts just wonít let go. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

3.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Picked up a six pack at the brewery recently. Pours reddish amber with no head. Very strong aroma of robust coffee and smoke. Taste is mostly smoke and some coffee. Body is thin. Wish it had more body and retained it's head for appearance sake. Otherwise, unique and enjoyable.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Drank this bitch straight from the bottle. Nice. Aroma was cigarette butts, overfull ashtrays. Possibly some toffee. Taste was not really peated... more like coffee, cigars, ashtrays and a dash of chocolate. Not bad, actually. This beer is getting shit on in the reviews, but I quite like it. Decent. Thanks, Randomgarbage. You rate a metric shit ton of malt likka.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
12 fl oz bottle. From Iowa. A big thank you goes to John M.
Dark brown colour with a small white head.
Roasted malt, rust, mild cappuccino and mild bitterness in the aroma.
The flavour is quite interesting... itís like a tangle of smoke, bitterness, toasted malt and rust. Sweetness and smoke in the aftertaste. Not bad but a bit messy.

UPDATED: SEP 5, 2013 Very nice color, and a slight aroma. Disappointed in first taste, but after a few more tastes, the flavor settled in.

On tap at the GTMW 2013
This was picked as a break between bigger beers to check out a new random brewery. It is mostly solid and agreeable. Yet even with that I do not see myself trying to get a few more of their bottles. They are a good local and nothing more.
Aroma / Appearance - A caramel red base looks like liquid red vines. Fluid and sticky without being heavy it releases a nice wave of caramel, malt, nuttiness, and other aspects of a Scottish ale.
Flavor / Palate - The caramel is present but feels a bit weak around the edges. A nutty sweet transition sweeps into a malty finish. This is par for the course for the style but not much above average. Even so I was not willing to waste the pour.

Bottle from Johns. Bright clear amber with quickly dissipating head. Nice toasted caramel and light peat smoke aroma. Sweet caramel, nuts, with mild peaty finish. A little cloying, but not too bad. Pretty good. No telling how old this bottle is.

2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle from Johns grocery. Pours brown with a very, very thin brown head. Doesnít leave any lacing. Has a slight malt presence on the nose. Slightly oily mouthfeel. Not a lot of malt on the tongue. Eh!
