Dark black body with creamy light brown head. Faint coffee and malt on the nose with very sweet almost milk like hint to the roasted malt taste.

On tap at the brewpub/bowling alley in Winona, MN. Pours a deep, almost opaque black brew with a nice tan head. Quickly dissolving head and leaves an average, yet spotty lacing. Aroma of toasted barley malt, extra grains, some coffee, and lots of lactose. Taste has high carbonation, coffee, and some toasted barley malt. The finish is smooth at first and then leaves a metalic taste on the roof of mouth. An interesting stout, but not too compliex, or dark/thick enough.

The beer pours a nice deep black color with just a thin layer of foam. It looks a little flat, and thinking of the sweet & sour sauce caps I was a little worried, however my concern was unfounded - the carbonation held up just fine. Note: subsequent pours provided an eighth of an inch of dark tan foam. No lacing. Very mild roasted grain in the aroma - I really had to look for it to find it. The flavor is fuller than the aroma led me to expect, in fact it is nice and tasty, with plenty of roasted dry malt and even a Guinness-like tang to it. A hint of coffee in the finish and aftertaste. Light to medium body, gentle carbonation. Nothing flashy, but still a solid tasty brewpub stout.

On tap at the Brewpub. Black in color with a fainting white head. Smells like cough syrup. No roasted aroma. Too light in body. Sour tasting. Thin tart finish. Very weak. Maybe this is closer to a porter. Either way, it’s not too good.

pitch blacky murky looking liquid with a tan head, smells of a day old coffee filter. definately tasted notes of coffee and chocolate, but a real stark sourness reigned supreme in this beer, could be a bad tap, lacked the body that I like in a stout
