COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Status uncertain - part of the Hoard Series. Beers brewed to celebrate the Staffordshire Hoard, the largest find Anglo Saxon treasure in the UK. ’Heriot’ - ’War-Gear’ paid as a death duty or ransom to the king.

UPDATED: FEB 25, 2011 Hand pulled at the Old Joint Stock, Birmingham. Fresh flavoured golden. Thin yellow with lacing. Hops are grapefruit and lemon though fairly slight. Thin but pleasant. Easy to drink, nice sweet aroma.

(Bottled) Another God damn golden ale....too much butterscotch like malt and not zesty enough . When this style is executed with both flair and delicate attention to nuances ,this style can be pretty cool . The more laboured versions are a pain in the ass to drink. A 3.

Cask (gravity dispense) at Kingston Beer Festival on 13 May 2011. Darkish gold colour. Loose white head. Good, lively condition. Fruity (tropical) hop aroma with a something slightly volatile that I couldn’t quite identify in the background. Clean on the palate with a touch of biscuity malt and a reasonable whack of grapefruity citrus. Mellow mouthfeel. Nothing too extravagant here but it’s a likeable, refreshing and drinkable golden ale. Maybe just a touch more hop punch wouldn’t have gone amiss.

500ml bottle. Pours burnt gold with no head. Aroma is sweet, floral hops and tropical fruits. Taste is floral hops throughout, with a little bit of butter on the aftertaste. Needs more carbonation.
