2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Cask @ Coach & Horses, Shrewsbury. Lacked a little flavour for a Christmas beer.. got a little citrus from the hops and possibly some spice if I searched hard enough, but generally felt a bit lacklustre.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Cask conditioned handpump Old Joint Stock Birmingham 09/12/13. A brown beer with a whitish head and lace. Just a sweet bitter. A bit cloying. Nothing special and nothing Christmassy. A chewy body. Not my thing.

The Felix, Nuneaton, 08/12/13. Deep gold thickly collared with white. Aroma faint lemony hop, thistle sap, pepper, possibly coriander. Soft and decent with gelatinous citrus hop and mellow spiced biscuit; some oak, plastic and apple peel yeast.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Cask at The Fountain, Walsall. Poured a clear golden brown with a thick long-lived white head. The aroma is rich and malty. The flavour is medium bitter and much the same as the aroma. The hoppy bitterness sits nicely on the palate. This is a great smooth session bitter rather than a Christmas ale. I’d order a second pint so it must be good!

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Cask conditioned at Far From the Madding Crowd, Oxford. Gold to amber with white head. Light, dry slightly thin but ultimately hoppy bitter, a little perfumed, orangey. It’s ok.
