3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 imdownthepub (7461) - Banbury, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - MAY 9, 2010
Cask conditioned at Banbury Beer Fest ’10. Gold with white head. This is a slightly sweet and fruity beer with a gentle rose hip type note before an orange like hop, subtle then bitter. There was a sudden rush on it when it’s charm became known. Another beer damaged at GBBF?

6th August 2009 GBBF. Cask. Clear gold beer. Light dry palate. Some sweet fruit here. Pineapple, mango and other generic fruits. Finishes crispy with more fruit and with a little hop bitterness. Liked this - just a tad dry.

Cask at GBBF 05-08-09 Pours warm gold with a thin white rim of bubbles ofr a head. There is a gradual bitterness with this one, and also a touch of shoe polish (kiwi brand) detected on the nose. The hops area a little rough, but despite what appears as quite a critical review it was absolutely fine. A6 A4 F6 P3 Ov13 3.2

(Cask at GBBF, London Earl’s Court, 5 Aug 2009) Golden colour with brief, white head. Fruity, malty nose with peaches, citrus and a touch of soap. Fruity, malty taste with notes of citrus, tropical fruit and a balanced citrussy bitterness in the finish. Medium body, slightly sweetish. Decent.

Cask at the Great British Beer Festival Day 2, August 2009. Another workmanlike gold-coloured ale. No particularly striking features. Some slightly sweet notes. Distinctly fruity. Quite pale in colour but drinks more like a bitter than a golden ale.

The Oddfellows In The Boat, Somerhill, Staffs. Bright gold collared with nitro slickness. Nose neat sulphur, boiled eggs bobbing in lemon barley squash. slick and heavy with oak-like alcohol, vanilla, almost condensed milk oat sweetness, straw, last minute bitterness right on the end. Milky soft and fizzless. Very Black Country/Church End. Gentle grassy hops as it warms, more of that lemon barley, alcoholic almond and marzipan flatness. SNATCHY. Sulphur right through it. Not sure.
