UPDATED: MAY 24, 2012 Really disappointing. Hazy Lemony colour with not much head. A bit of grainy aroma, but pretty faint. Slightly sweet, biscuity taste, some slight bitterness, sour, lemon. Really not much going on here. Abv completely masked.

pours darkish orange, small head, micro CO2. Some barley on the nose. Drinks pretty creamy and smooth, good bite in the mids, tastes of light barley, yeast, soft hops, mild dry bitterness in the mids, finish with progressively harsher bitterness and hoppiness. Trace amounts indistinct floralness but otherwise, low-medium complexity, medium depth, good transitions, okay carry, easy drinkability, med-long bitter length. A bit above average, but nothing special.

Pours a pale orangey golden body with a big fluffy white head. The head leaves massive splotches of ugly lacing on the glass. Grainy and lightly skunked aroma with a medium grassy and floral hop. Fairly off putting aroma overall...smells like a skunked out premium lager. The flavor is much better with nice sweetness and caramel malts. Grassy and "off" hop finish with a few undeterminable fruity notes. Medium bodied and flat feel. Overall, very lackluster.

Hazy Metamucil with a 1/2" rocky cap. Sweet apple juice, bready, random citrus, and the aroma rounds out with a very mild metallic to almost skunky hops. Very metallic, extremely bready.........................GRASS!!&# lemon and a strange dry finish. Welcher’s grape juice? Why is the in the Belgian strong category? Dust and that’s the end.

330ml brown bottle. Lemon yellow pour, hazy. White fizzy head, settles to a thin cap with sticky edges. Grass and lemon notes in the nose, grains. Grainy flavour, mild sweetness, mild citrus, decent grassy hop notes. Dry finish, grassy, slightly herbal aftertaste. Light to medium body with crisp carbonation. Drinks like a lighter beer, not quite an imperial pils but pretty enjoyable.

Vertical Bacon Strips (1697) - Asshat, Alberta, CANADA - APR 15, 2012
Hazy yellow gold brew, small fine bright white cap and some speckle lacing. Had a border line skunk when the cap was lifted. Sweet grainy nose, white bread crusts, pleasant nondescript citrus and a hint of phenols, potato water. Not quite your average strong ale thanks to the tasty sharp citrus and welcome balanced bitterness. Little bit of herb, lemon, fresh grains, no hint of the alcohol in the flavour. Ok little beer.

330ml bottle pours a hazy pale golden color with a small white head that leaves a few spots of lacing on the glass. Aroma is mild cereal grains and hops. Taste is grainy malt sweetness with a citrusy hop bitterness. Light to medium body with adequate carbonation. An interesting take on a pilsner which is not bad, but nothing special comes to mind either.

Ulfborg Scooper Smagning 2012. Hazy golden with a small white head. Aroma of grapefruit, grass and yeast. Sweetish yeasty, toffee malty and citrus hoppy flavour.
