Pours dark. Aroma is oak, coffee. Taste is same. Good beer, at 10.2 % it's a great sipper.

Not bad...but a little off stylistically. The pour is a dark burnt brown with a sickly looking thin beige head and a few splotches of tan lacing. The nose has mild oaky notes, light roasted malts and a few subtle vanilla woody notes. Rather boozy and a bit syrupy and offputting with a overly sweet taste profile and a mild roast. Quite a bit of hops and astringent bitterness on the finish. Overall, just okay.

330ml bottle pours almost black in color with a very small off-white head that leaves virtually no lacing behind. Aroma is dark fruits (perhaps raisins) with some light oak and alcohol notes. Taste is a malty and dark fruity sweetness with an alcohol presence and a light hoppy bitterness. A very strong porter that is quite sweet but somewhat tasty and highly recommended to try at least once.

Alla spina. la two penny "original" è ormai una delle mie bevute preferite, aspettavo quindi con impazienza la versione con passaggio in botti, di whisky ticinese (?), almeno così si dice. beh, me l’aspettavo, torbata, terrosa, invece la birra ha virato verso frutti rossi, fiore di ibisco, tanto ibisco... tanto che alla lunga mixato con una media acidità mi ha dato un pò fastidio. interessante, ma non mi convince come la sorellina.

devo ammettere che questa versione passata in botte della Two Penny (che non conosco) aveva il suo perché.
