Saison, a refreshing drink originally popular with Belgian farm workers known as ‘les saisonners’. We use honey, ginger and seeds of paradise to give a modern and zesty twist to this classic ale.

Bottle from the Maypole, Cambridge. Light gold, no head with a bit of carbonation. The intense sweet honey is tempered by the spicy season yeast. A lovely sip although a little too sweet, and it doesn’t improve until a bitter hoppy note in the finish. Yeast and coriander in the aftertaste. Mixed bag but good overall. Got drunk on saisons a couple months ago and haven’t wanted one since... this was a gentle introduction back.

17-JUN-2016, draft @Banksia with Thomas. Slightly hazy golden with a lasting, lacing, off-white head. Spice, yeast, wheat, toast. Simple but nice with the burger. High carbonation, medium body. Nice.

Cloudy pale Amber/gold with almost no head. Aroma of oranges and lemons m. Quite a creamy taste (unexpectedly!) with plenty of banana, honey and clove flavours. A little bit of barnyard in the mix as well. Pleasantly fruity finish. An excellent and complex beer, but more like a Witbier in character than a Saison.

A mid amber orange coloured beer with a frothy white head. Strong, spicy aroma, peppery and a hint of clove, plus dusty malt and a zesty fruitiness. Dry and fizzy mouthfeel. A zesty, grassy and fruity taste to start, then a warming ginger led spice flavour brings forward a dry biscuity maltiness. The finish is zesty and spicy.

Bottle from Beer Dock, Crewe. Pours like a piddle sample, quickly no head. Seriously lacking any dimension, disappointing. Some banana, light and easy to drink but boring.
