COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In 1989, when Baderbräu was first introduced in Chicago, its upstart spirit, revolutionary nature, and award-winning flavor won accolades and captured the imagination of a great city. Rooted in the old-world ideals of Eastern Europe’s top craftsmen and infused with bold American character, this beer dared to be greater. This beer started Chicago’s craft revolution. Its amber color, spicy hop-forward aroma, malty body, and creamy finish set this beer apart from all others. Its artful combination of only the finest ingredients–water, aromatic Czech and German Noble hops, a private strain of European lager yeast, and robust malts from the USA—make this beer a style all its own.

Golden color, small white head. The aroma is Saaz, hops and Pilsner malt. The flavor is similar, but with an overly strong bitter finish that is a little dry. Body is nice.

12oz bottle 6/17/14 (Binny’s Naperville Mix A Six)-42° in Lager Glass-Pours a light golden with a small white head. Aroma of corn, malt, and grains. Taste of the same with a grassy taste along with slight hops and sweetness. This light bodied brew is not bad.

Draft at the Hyatt hotel bar Taste is a hoppy easy drinking pilsner wiyhj a crisp quality that balances like a german pilsner. Very good session

Pilsener? Really? Poured from the bottle, it had a yellow/gold body with small lazy bubbles and a huge rocky head that was slow in settling. The aroma was a grainy sweetness. It tasted grainy and had a sugary sweetness with a quiet earthy grassy bitterness that finally arrives in the finish. Not a Pils, obviously, but perhaps drinkable as a Premium Lager. Perhaps.

Frozer (106) - Illinois, USA - NOV 14, 2013
Poured a cloudy dark amber, more hefe in appearance than pils. Aroma is bitter as is the flavor. The hops add a bitter twang in a bad way. Not a very good pils. Hard to finish one bottle.

Slightly Hazy Amber Color, Big Frothy Head, Lasted for a While, Decent Lacing. Faint Straw Aroma. Malty, Bready, Earthy, Light Bitter Finish. Medium Body, Lightly Buttery. It’s Pilsener, so it is not that exciting as a style overall. Plus, If original recipe is used then you have to account for taste and drinking differences today and when it was brewed the first time. Nothing too good, Nothing Too bad. Main Attraction is that it is Local Product. Let’s hope, company that is trying to revive this brand is successful and puts out more beers that are more exciting and tasty. OK.

Chicago’s original craft beer? Introduced a year after Goose Island? Regardless of the claims, this is a light american lager. Maybe a miller lite with a touch of the skunk filtered out.

Bottle poured into pils glass. Some aroma of hops, but nothing special A nice golden hue and moderate lacing. Bit of a tangy aftertaste but watery overall. An avg pils at best.

Just not a great example of a pils. Thin, lighter bodied, light flavor, grainy.
