Not my idea of an Octoberfest style. Too bitter and not malty enough for my taste.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
12oz bottle 10/30/15 (Whole Foods-Naperville)-38° in Mug-Pours light brown with a small tan head. Aroma of caramel, bread, yeast, and toffee. Taste of the same. This medium bodied brew is not too bad.

Nice toasty nutty flavor with a bit of hop flavor that rounds out the mouthfeel. Pretty good.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
UPDATED: OCT 30, 2015 Blind tasted: (Hey, nailed the score!) This is dark amber in color. It’s a bit sweet and oxidized w/ some fruity yeast character and no hops at all. It has spritzy carbonation which I guess makes it drinkable enough.
Original rating (2.7): I have grown to love good Oktoberfests over the years but didn’t like them for a while because of craft brewers churning out oversweet crap like this. Hey fellows, I got news for you, you can get the flavor of malt in well attenuated beer. This stuff is perfectly clear amber brown w/ a head of mixed bubbles. It smells like caramel w/ a fairly strong fruity bubblegum note. It has a molasses-like sweetness and does at least seam to have kind of an okay toasty malt character burried under there somewhere. Despite how sweet it is, it does manage to not be too terribly syrupy or heavy so it is moderately drinkable in that regard. Still, this does not deliver what is enjoyable in a more malt forward lager--which is rich, nutty flavors from the malt rather than simple sweetness.

3.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Clean amber in color with a very low off white, bubbly head. Aroma is very light with a faint malty sweetness with a touch of raisin at the finish. Flavor is a sweet munich/vienna malt combo with a touch of apple and raisin fruitiness in it. with some light grainy notes at the very end. Hops is almost absent as you would expect in the style. Body is light/modest with almost no carbonation. Not sure if the carbonation is due to it being over chilled due to the raters error or under carbonated due to the brewer. Overall a solid, simple oktoberfest.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Hard to call it a maerzen or orktoberfest, what it is is a fruity and slightly caramel lager.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Light amber color with a fizzy head. Smell is malty, a little bit sweet, and a slight note of bitter hops around the edge. The taste delivers on some Vienna, or maybe even crystal malts. Sweetness is just held in check by a German hop note. This is not made with the same soft water profile as the Baderbrau Pilsener (though I haven’t had the Stevens Point iteration yet), so nothing gets in the way of its nice malty character. Not over-filling, so you can have a few, as if you were at Oktoberfest as well.
