Name change in August 2011 from Blandford Fly
With the hot summer sun beating down, the patient fly-fishermen of the Dorset Stour await their catch. These ’Flyers’ are celebrated in this warming ale with ginger overtones, rumoured to be originally included to remedy the bites of the infamous Blandford Fly. The rounded sweetness of this medium-bodied brew makes it an ideal and refreshing accompaniment to a hot lamb biryani or spicy crispy chilli beef.

Bottle, pours amber with a thin head, aromas of golden malt, a little sweetcorn and a hint of spice. Crisp and dry-sweet with a gingery overtone. Maybe a little over-sweet, but pretty good - certainly for a mainstream spice beer.

A light aroma of ginger, a little bit sweet. The small white fizzy head has a short duration. The body is dark yellow. A light bitter taste, some ginger, a light sweet finish. The body is light and creamy with a normal carbonation.

I can fully understand why people will not like this ale. This ale is what The Smiths is to popular music . You will either hate it or, like me rate it as simply the greatest ever ale

Pours clear, copper colored. Foamy off-white head. Aroma is reminscent of gingerbread. Ginger is the flavor at first, then becomes strongly biscuity. Medium sweet. Sticky.

Decent refreshing ale.
Clear golden color with a fine white head. Moderate ginger intensity in the aroma. Medium body and an average carbonation. Tad sweet and a moderate bitterness. Malty, herbal and ginger in the flavor.

Bottle. Golden body with a small head. Aroma has sharp ginger and not much else. Taste has sweet malt with plenty of ginger. I don’t detect hoppy parts behind this spicy ginger. Too much ginger and not enough hops for me. It’s clean and drinkable but I generally don’t enjoy ginger beers that much. Not something I would want to have again.
