Name change in August 2011 from Blandford Fly
With the hot summer sun beating down, the patient fly-fishermen of the Dorset Stour await their catch. These ’Flyers’ are celebrated in this warming ale with ginger overtones, rumoured to be originally included to remedy the bites of the infamous Blandford Fly. The rounded sweetness of this medium-bodied brew makes it an ideal and refreshing accompaniment to a hot lamb biryani or spicy crispy chilli beef.

Had a bit of a shandy taste to it. The ginger was quite prominent. Had a certain sweetness to it that wasn’t to my palate. Was quite surprised to see the ABV is 5.2

500ml bottle at home. Pours clear amber, no head. Aromas are light ginger, but watery. Taste is the same. Sweet ginger biscuits. Not really my thing.

Was surprised by the ginger taste but didn't find it unpleasant. Might consider buying again for a summer BBQ.

Ins Glas ergießt sich ein helles bernsteinfarbenes Bier mit geringer Schaumkrone. Geruch fruchtig süß, Ginger, leicht malzig. Geschmack wässrig, fruchtig, Ginger, leicht würzig scharf.

Alright, it tastes sweet and rather gingery. Not much else to add really, perhaps more enjoyable if drank chilled on a hot summer’s day.

To be honest if I’d seen the "with a hint of ginger" on the bottle I’d have left this well alone. As it happens it wasn’t as bad as some British ales that have that ginger flavouring to them. There was a smoothness and a slight hint of vanilla that undercut the ginger flavour reasonably well. Still wouldn’t exactly recommend it though.

Bottle. Light copper/deep golden body, very brief head. Aroma is more skunky/leafy hop with sweet spicy undertones, but on the palate the reverse is true. The sweet ginger really asserts its dominance on the palate, with a hoppy kick at the end. How is this not listed as a spice/herb/vegetable style? More drinkable than anticipated, but still not my thing.

Seems to be a bitter with a whole lot of ginger. Whatever they’ve added makes it very sweet and light but so it’s a refreshing beer but I doubt you’d want more than one.

Amber color , mid-sized head. Ginger aroma . Malty sweet taste with ginger spice. Not great but good as for me. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle at the Hen & Chickens, Birmingham. Looks ok - amber with a bubbly head - and tastes like a shandy. Very sweet with the ginger noticeable in the aftertaste. Sweetness gets a bit much after a while. Interesting.
