Name change in August 2011 from Blandford Fly
With the hot summer sun beating down, the patient fly-fishermen of the Dorset Stour await their catch. These ’Flyers’ are celebrated in this warming ale with ginger overtones, rumoured to be originally included to remedy the bites of the infamous Blandford Fly. The rounded sweetness of this medium-bodied brew makes it an ideal and refreshing accompaniment to a hot lamb biryani or spicy crispy chilli beef.

Light clear amber with a light white head. Smells spicy with cinnamon and ginger, malt and a light fruity citrus. Medium thin body. Tastes like a normal bitter with malt, caramel being the defining elements with a clear ginger kick. Unfortunately the cheap pasteurisation leaves a chemical element on the finish. Nice spice attempt. Would be better as a cask.

Bottle. Pours clear light amber with small white head. Aroma is completely dominated by synthetic ginger. Taste is very sweet and light bitter. Body is light syrupy with good carbonation. Finish is long and very sweet and again completely dominated by ginger with faint hints of lime and malt. Is this lemonade or beer?

Initially lively clear golden beer with a thick white head. Sweet and earthy with upfront ginger aroma. Bold ginger sweetness dominates the taste with some light floral hoppyness in the rear. Sweaty dog hair taste in the finish though. What’s that about? Never the less I like it. Sweaty dog an all. Always dug ginger me.

Bottled 500ml. Clear amber color, small steady white head. Sweet honeyish aroma with ginger. Light-bodied. Sweetish with harsh ginger-like notes. Almost like a alko soda mix. Terrible.

500 ml bottle bought at Waitrose supermarket. Aroma: floral first, then some gingeriness, delicate, inviting. Appearance: white frothy, persistent head, CO2 bubbles busy rising up through a brite, golden beer. Great. Flavour: sweet and gingery first, a "dusty" ginger flavour, some creamy passtisserie flavour, followed by some light hop bitterness in the linger. Palate: carbonation is refreshing, slips down nicely. Comment: a little too sweet and ginger beerish for my liking.

Bottle @ DØE Appearance: pours clear golden with powerful soapy white head and good lacing. aroma/taste: caramel, bread, toffee, berries and some spicy and floral notes. palette: medium carbonation, medium body, notable toffee sweetness, low to average bitterness, medium duration, and an oily texture. Overall: Nice tasteful ale, though not that "bitter"
