Name change in August 2011 from Blandford Fly
With the hot summer sun beating down, the patient fly-fishermen of the Dorset Stour await their catch. These ’Flyers’ are celebrated in this warming ale with ginger overtones, rumoured to be originally included to remedy the bites of the infamous Blandford Fly. The rounded sweetness of this medium-bodied brew makes it an ideal and refreshing accompaniment to a hot lamb biryani or spicy crispy chilli beef.

Light clear amber with a light white head. Smells spicy with cinnamon and ginger, malt and a light fruity citrus. Medium thin body. Tastes like a normal bitter with malt, caramel being the defining elements with a clear ginger kick. Unfortunately the cheap pasteurisation leaves a chemical element on the finish. Nice spice attempt. Would be better as a cask.

Bottle: beautiful two labels but no information in detail about the hops and malts Golden amber beer with a beautiful white head, heavy sweetness, no bitterness, I can taste the ginger, perhaps too much, clear body, flat carbonation (I have a 0.5l bottle with batch 12:59 L5008H and best-before date Jan 2016)

Bottle from England. Dark golden-amber colored. Sweet ginger and a hint of chocolate in aroma. Medium bodied, low carbonated. Not bad, but wasn’t meant for me.

Bottle at the Old Nick, London. Pours a light brown colour with a small off white head. Aroma a curious medicinal, herbal spice mix with a touch of ginger. Quite sweet, little bitterness. Medium body, sticky texture. Not keen, and not because I dislike ginger, but this one was just wide of any mark.

Bottle. From this brewer, I tend to nearly always get a butterscotch note and I get a little of this again. The ginger does a reasonable job of disguising it, mind, so probably one of their best efforts.

Some weird artificial ginger flavors dominate the brew and leaves all other taste behind. It’s not bad, but way too dominant.

Bottle from Selver in Tallinn; BB Jul 2016. Pours clear pale amber with a small off-white head. The aroma is sweet, sugared ginger (rather artificial), malts. Tastes... quite bad. Sweetish fake gingery flavour with papery malts. Just a tiny bit of ginger heat. Sharp carbonation, weak, flat, watery body. Nothing too good about this, and the last 1/3 is a drainpour. Even in summer I wouldn’t want it.

Bottle (from selver). Pours amber with whiteish head. The head stays. Aroma is rather weak, malty, herbal-ginger, somewhat metallic. Flavor is sweet and bitter, malt, soap, fruits, ginger, herbal and metallic notes. Carbonation is high. Overall: drinkable as ginger beer.

50cl BBE 06.16 This has nothing to do with PB/EBS There is plenty of ginger, zest and overall citrus as advertised. Tastes like slightly advanced version of radler. You can get a very close taste to this at 1/4 the price. Not being a ginger fan I Should have left it on the shelf. I rather drink Robinsons Old Tom With Ginger than this one if I really crave for it. This is mostly a summer refreshing brew. During cold months - just stay away from it. You will be disappointed. P.S. It is not bad as as a ginger root beer. But it is very bad as a representation of ESB.

Clear golden orange beer, medium white head. Nose is perfume, ginger, malt, caramel hints. Flavor is malts, and soapy ginger. Some hops in the finish. Perfume and soap, yuk.

Ah no, not for me. I love ginger beers, but this just absolutely falls flat, with a very thin, boring, and simple palate. Lots of sickly sweet honey and caramel, but an absolute inept flavour of ginger, where did they get this flavour essence from? Sorry, Badger, but a once only for me. Nice bottle and reasonable nose for some reason, but taste is somewhat underwhelming. Try some ’Ranga’ ginger beer from Gisborne, New Zealand you ginger beer lovers, about the best I’ve tasted thus far.
