"This fresh, light, award-winning beer delights with its grassy, crisp taste and zippy floral aroma. Flavours of white grape and melon develop to reveal a subtle bitterness... a taste that is quintessentially English. Perfect with chicken and pasta - and exquisite with fresh Dorset fly-fished trout."

Light refreshing and easy to drink makes a nice clean beer perfect for an English summer day. I picked up lemon and apple. I liked this beer.

UPDATED: MAY 17, 2012 1) CRAP OLD RATE: Very intriguing. There’s nothing remotely ’quintessentially English’ about this, but I like it immediately. Pale gold pour with well-retained white head. The nose has an evocative whiff of the Belgian about it, with an unmalted barley fruitiness reminiscent of Vlaskop, Haecht or Witkap Pater Singel. Sniffs of pineapple, grape, melon and spice. Always that nibble of ginger lurking in the background. Flavour doesn’t quite realise its promise, but is still a quenching balance of tangy citrus, perfumey floweriness and hop biitterness. Embarrasses rival brewers’ attempts to capture the refreshing fruitiness of a Wit in a beer that doesn’t completely abandon its hoppy English heritage. Tasty, unusual and refreshing. 847416=3.9. 2) NEW RATE: Duped into a rebuy by the name change- automatic points deduction I’m afraid. Looks like it’s long overdue a re-rate anyway. Fizzing lager gold with a flat, speckling head. Aroma of lime and elderflower with dishcloth and matchbox hints. But I do get where I was coming from before with the Vlaskop comparison- bags of barley squash and wheat fruitiness. Pleasantly limey with lavender and more elderflower on the palate and a long, clean aftertaste with notes of wheat, bread stick and cashew. Holds up surprisingly well- could happily sink a few on the patio. If the bloody sun ever came out. 737314=3.5.

golden oranged coloured ale, little hop on nose, a very light bitter that is particularly hoppy

Bottle. Gold with thin white head. Striking nose of boiled sweets & oranges. Flavour is predominantly zesty citrussy fruit with some dry malt backnotes. Not bad- maybe Badger’s best bottled effort. If it appears in cask, I’d certainly want to try it.

bottle. Bright gold, gold with a white foam. Aromas are crisp lemon and fresh cut grass. Toast malts with apricot and floral notes. Flavours are lemon and spices with soft buttery malts. Apricot and melon fruitiness with some sherbert. Tastes fresh, a good summer beer.

Nice gold colour, but the white head is thin and patchy. I dont like this style of nose, overly fruity and a bit overpowering, possibly masks any other aromas that might...or might not!..be there. An unpleasant fruity sweetness is all I can pick up flavourwise. Ok,I’m not a fan of this style of beer and you could argue that I shouldn’t have bought it in the first place as the label gives a pretty accurate profile, but I did! Thank the Lord that I’ve a Fullers ESB waiting for me after this! (Tesco)

Bottle. Golden, hoppy and slightly perfumed. Bitterness appears after a while. Interesting and refreshing. Taste profile on the label that is fairly accrate and obviously aimed at a more sophisticated beer drinker. Nice.

A Mes rate: 50cl bottle from Tesco. Pale, hoppy, flowery and too much carb. It’s pretty poor to be honest. Not impressed.

UPDATED: DEC 30, 2010 Dec, 2006 Pasteurised bottle from Tesco. This continues Hall & Woodhouse’s search for a light, flowery beer. Pale, light bodied and fairly fragrant in a pale biscuit and elderflower manner, this could be a decent assault on the summer lager market. However, the pasteurising process is rather less forgiving of delicate ale than of lager; and various aspects of the processing the beer has been subjected to make this a less attractive product than it could be. Boiled orange sweets and a little fruity rust, common flavour notes in pasteurised pale ales, are found here in abundance. Buttery grease can be detected in the after taste. All in all, too much bad stuff outweighs the good. Shame. [2.5]
Oct, 2008 A light and fragrant beer. Delicate and quite delicious. Coming back from a week in the beer desert of Marseille, I open a bottle of this and find it quite wonderful after a diet of dreary pale lagers. It’s a matter of perspective. [3.1]
Dec, 2010 A flowery, sweetish, IrnBru sort of beer. Drinkable, but unimpressive, and the processing shows through. Boiled barley sugar and grease. [2.6]

This has the typical Badger fruity yeast profile, moderate bittering levels with some zesty notes to it. Ok
