UPDATED: DEC 30, 2010 Dec, 2006 Pasteurised bottle from Tesco. This continues Hall & Woodhouse’s search for a light, flowery beer. Pale, light bodied and fairly fragrant in a pale biscuit and elderflower manner, this could be a decent assault on the summer lager market. However, the pasteurising process is rather less forgiving of delicate ale than of lager; and various aspects of the processing the beer has been subjected to make this a less attractive product than it could be. Boiled orange sweets and a little fruity rust, common flavour notes in pasteurised pale ales, are found here in abundance. Buttery grease can be detected in the after taste. All in all, too much bad stuff outweighs the good. Shame. [2.5]
Oct, 2008 A light and fragrant beer. Delicate and quite delicious. Coming back from a week in the beer desert of Marseille, I open a bottle of this and find it quite wonderful after a diet of dreary pale lagers. It’s a matter of perspective. [3.1]
Dec, 2010 A flowery, sweetish, IrnBru sort of beer. Drinkable, but unimpressive, and the processing shows through. Boiled barley sugar and grease. [2.6]

DØE. Clear golden with a white head. Aroma is sweet, malty and moderate hoppy - fruit and flowers. Flavor is medium sweet and moderate bitter. Dry and moderate bitter finish. 100512

Bottle. Gold colour, almost non-existent white fuzz. Elderflower nose. In the mouth, there’s grapes, elderflower, perfumes and grasses. A little TOO subtle for me; not knocking my socks off in any way. Drinkable and thirst-quenching... but thats about it.

Brown 500ml bottle of an Quintessentially English Ale (according to the neck label anyway). Best before Nov 2008, drank on a crisp, cold English evening in Feb 2008. Poured into a vase shaped ’Old Speckled Hen’ pint glass. Pale golden colour, almost pilsner in appearance, Dortmunder style deeper gold is maybe closer. the head like those of pilsners and Dorts was white and wispy, no retension and thin. There is no wheat in the brew, but the aroma hinted there might be, a flowery almost sweet pea smell with hops and yeast thrown in for good measure. A little fizzy, but a pleasant clean tasting ale, bitter but not harsh. More fruity than malty, the hops are weak in my opinion. The mouthfeel is fine, the flavours linger longer than the head did and the 4.6% is there for you to enjoy as the mouth drys. All in all, not a bad beer. I would like to try it on cask if it is in fact sold that way.

Fair enough to have a soft spot for a beer which makes rating it suck. Goes from being a beer you down in gallons to a beer you just look at and go ’Meh!’ This is one of those.
Bright yellow gold with rapidly rising fine streams of carbonation. Soapy, sudsy and satiny white hat manages to last the length and leaves a fine lace. There is a blend of perfumy musk, flower petals, straw, hay bales and trodden earth on the nose with hints of tangy tangerines, mandarin’s and lemon zest - good start. Soapy, foamy mouthfeel with soft, lightly prickly carbonation up front. Citrussy sweet tang along the side with a nice floral length, subdued bitterness, a little earth. A strange artificial lime cordial note builds as it empties, the bready malt base no help at all. It is easy drinking, but annoyingly monotone. I’ll just go back to drinking it with my brain on stand-by! (50cL, BBE 04/12, Cellarbrations Kinross)

4.6% light gold colour with no head, flowery aroma, light fruits taste, it is dry and different but nice.

Ugly yellow and fizzy with no head. Apple, metal, white grapes. Watery body. Not great. Easy to drink though.

Pours a fizzy golden colour and has a grape and elder-flower aroma and the taste has elder-flower grape and peach nice beer.

(bottle) Clear pale god with decent head. Nice aroma of citrus and grassy hops. Light body and fizzy. Flavor has a sweet candy and pineapple start with a disappointing thin metallic finish. Overall, a nice start but a dsappointing finish

Pale gold with orange notes, a white head that subsides in short order. Scents of orange blossom, elderflower and citrus peel. Smells zesty and fresh. It has a lovely tangy bitterness that fills the mouth and gives a tingly mouthfeel. Those same aromas represent themselves in the flavour and lingers. I see where they get the white grapiness from too. Lovely.
