3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
500ml bottle (K Kamppi, Helsinki)
Pours a nice reddish orange, with a huge rocky persistent doughy head. On pouring, a nice fruity citrussy aroma, but in tthe glass all the persists is a caramelliness. Lovely full retronasals, pleny of juicy fruits, some earthy undergrowthy bitterness too. But it’sa bit effete. Watery, crisp carbonation. Dead. You’re left with the dry earthy hops. Quite a long finish, in fact. But for a bottled beer at (Finnish) supermarket strength this isn’t too bad.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
0.5 l bottle from Citymarket Seppälä, Jyväskylä. Amber color. Caramelly and nutty maltiness ront in the aroma with restrained orange marmalade resiny and orangey hops. Dryish resiny, caramelly bitterness with some herbal orangey notes too. Minerals, light bitterness and nutty maltiness in finish. Light bodied. Rather restrained and delicate taste.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tasting from Jan’ 2010.
At just on cool and into an English pint glass. Deep tawny copper and bright as bright with minuscule sized bubbles that stream up to a solid, drabby, off-white pad that is well retained. Aroma’s of a damp garden bed in the afternoon sun; floral, earthy and just a little musty. On the palate it is extremely woody and dry with a raspy and sharp bitterness that peaks and drops off nicely to a clean, dry malt and hop finish. Floral hops linger long between each sip. The carbonation is soft; merely a tickle on the tip of the tongue. Body astounds me at medium to medium-light (setting it far above most of Hall & Woodhouse’s beers). Malty palate; gritty, mildly roasted and toasted but clean with just a late puff of burnt grain and nuts. Not bad overall. Nice flavour for a pasteurised and filtered bitter – credit there. Session stuff! (50cL, BBE 08/10, The Beer Store Morley)

2.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
500ml Bottle. This one would suit those bitter lovers who find the rest of Badger’s range a bit too light - for me though, its too dark and heavy for my taste buds. Aroma is lacking but what there is is slightly smokey hops. Appearance is a dark copper with an average thin head. Taste is hoppy and slightly nutty with a watery finish. No oe that I’ll be buying again.
