500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 4.0%. Deep golden to amber colour, big to moderate and slightly off-white lasting head. Moderate aroma of malts with some herbal and spicy notes (probably from the First Gold hops), hints of orange marmalade and caramel. The flavour has moderate malts with some notes of caramel, and fairly nice spicy and herbal hops again. Moderately bitter aftertaste.

Not much aroma to this one. A great-looking beer with a nice foamy head, it’s slightly fizzy with a sweet edge. Very drinkable.

2 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 BlackHaddock (1709) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - MAY 8, 2012
Brown 500ml bottle, best before Oct 2007, drank March 2007.
Poured into a pint sleeve. Reddy brown, fairly light, but not golden as the name suggests, the name comes from the First Gold hops used to make the beer.
Smelt of washing up liquid, but not the lemon flavoured variety.
Dry and not overly clean or pleasant taste, metalic flavour, a strange beer.
Aftertaste is dry and watery, with a hop feel, nothing much else.
Not for me, to dry and uninteresting, there are a lot of better English Bitters out there.

Bottled 500ml (K-Kamppi, BB 12/2012)
Clear amber color, small white head. Nutty, fruity, English hoppy aroma. Light bodied, crisp carbonation. Nutty, some citrus and caramel. Very typical English bitter. I like single hop concept anyways.
