The light, refreshing character of our award-winning golden ale is distinguished by its subtle elderflower aroma, reminiscent of a summer’s evening. Champion is particularly rewarding when served chilled.

Bottle from Tesco’s. Poured a crystal clear medium amber with a thin white broken head and bags of broken lace. The aroma is of malt and fruit. The flavour is weak bitter, fruity and with hints of malt. The palate is smooth and there’s a mild lingering bitterness in the aftertaste. It’s a great refreshing summer ale, particularly when served cool. I prefer the Golden Glory, but this is also an excellent beer.

[4618-20120721] 500mL bottle. Light fruity pineapple notes in the aroma. Clear, orange brown body with a quick foamy white head. Fruity tangerine grains flavour has what should be the elderflower as a strong aftertaste. Medium body. Interesting to try but not a super fan of the elderflower. (5/3/6/3/11) 2.8

StueyD (828) - Heacham, King’s Lynn, Norfolk, ENGLAND - DEC 7, 2012
A mid golden brown coloured beer with a frothy but weak white head. A delicate hop aroma, floral and slightly grassy, the elderflower note can be detected. Dry and lightly fizzy mouthfeel. A zesty hop flavour to start, lemons, oranges and the elderflowers again, are underpinned by a slightly sweet, but not cloying malt flavour, toffee and a hint of butterscotch, plus there is a hint of spiciness in the finish.

Dark golden colour with a nice white head which fades mediumly. On the nose develop aromas of flours, roses and dust, earth. Medium sweet and light bitter. The body is light-medium and has a slick, bit thin texture. Soft carbonation with a medium light bitter finish. Good session beer!

Sweet and sour hopped, and similar to Golden Glory but with much less fruit apparent in its character.
