4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
I’m surprised at the nearly irrational invective directed towards this excellent Rye-PA. It is indeed exceptionally foamy, but one can control this and the foam is quite beautiful and aromatic. I find the rye taste and fragrance to be quite pleasant. Though different from Founders Red’s Rye-PA and the local Twin Cities taproom’s 612 Rated-R, this is one of my favorite rye-flavored IPA’s. Viva la différence!

Bottle. Really not very good. Carbonated beyond belief, some off flavors...i dunno, the rye did nothing for me on this.

1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20
Bottle. Pours a golden color with big gushing head. I gave up on drinking this out of a glass because it was so carbonated. Straw, grainy, earthy aromas. Vegetal, grainy, slightly tangy flavors. Not a fan.

2.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
My initial thought that this was good--and at first, I thought I sensed possible passion fruit notes. But with a bigger sip, and every subsequent sip, this was pretty awful. Vegetal, bitter, ack. Huge head--very big head. Bottle.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Smells is slightly hoppy, belgiany, as well as rye character. Tastes spicy with a rye tasting finish. Plenty of hops and bitterness as well.

Bottle pour - belgian notes abound here with this drinkable crisp brew that is slightly above average.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours an amber-orange with mid-sized head. Aroma is pretty run-of-the-mill, dominated by malt and grain. Flavor is quite spicy, almost pepper-like (reminds me of Furthermore’s Knotstock), with some hoppiness in reserve. Finish is rather bitter. Interesting but not my favorite.

2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Straw colored with a thin white head that blankets the sides of the glass. Aroma is floral hops, slight rye and pepper, but more wet hay and cereal. Flavor is mildly bitter, mostly watery. Body is light and easy drinking. Wanted more rye flavor. More of a summer beer.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Picked up a single 12-oz bottle at Heritage Liquors in Maplewood, Minnesota. Pours a golden pale colored brew with a decent sized off-white head that slowly dissipates to a lumpy white head and some spotty lacing. Aroma reminds me of a northern woods cabin hot dish. Scents of golden grain malt, some earthy spices, a hint of potato, some rye bread, a hint of honey and pine. Taste is medium bodied, average carbonation with flavors of multi-grain malt, rye, and extra grassy hops. Finish is semi-dry, toasted medium malts with a lingering spicy dry hop aftertaste.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 oz. bottle, consumed on 1-11-13. Hoppy, dry, mineral-y, metallic smell features dirt, clay, honey, and molasses scents. Pours a clear brass / light amber with a very large amount of uneven, beige head. Produces good, long-lasting lacing. Dry, salty taste features chalk, bitter brown sugar (rum-like), lemon, and mineral water elements. Rye taste noticeable. Dry, mineral-y aftertaste. Medium body. Lively and numbing in the palate. Badger Hill Three Tree American Rye is inoffensive and adequately good but not particularly remarkable. 7/4/7/4/14=>3.6
