3.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Cerveja temperada com alcaçuz e ameixas!
Na minha opinião, a melhor das Badger. Embora todas sejam um pouco enjoativas.
Belo creme denso e castanho. Com boa persistência.
Liquido licoroso, amarelo óleo, translúcido.
Muito perfumada! Um dos destaques da cerveja. Doce, frutada, forte. Lembra frutas vermelhas.
Sabor forte, frutado. Malte e álcool presentes, na medida. No retrogosto, amargor, álcool e um pouco de frutas.

2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
A copper colour with a creamy-coloured head. Aroma of malts and red fruits. the taste is dominated by an almost Ribena-like taste of blackcurrants, which must come from the damson plums. There is also a plenty of maltiness there and a good dryness imparted by the hops. The taste is predominantly quite sweet like a children’s drink. The licquorice kicks in at the end, giving a strange sweet but tart aftertaste. A little too sweet for my taste, but with a slightly improved balance could be a really interesting beer.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Clear, reddish-amber beer with a foamy off-white head and a pungent, sugary fruit aroma. I feared from the smell that the flavour would be overpowering or sickly but it’s not. I think it’s the liquourice, which I’m not usually a fan of, which balances out the tangy fruit enough to stop that happening. It’s not one I’d rush back to because it is a touch sweet for my taste but it’s not bad.

Drunk from 50cl bottle bought in Wakefield. Dark ale flavoured with hint of liquorice and damson. Not unpleasant.

UPDATED: JUL 1, 2014 500ml bottle pours a dark brown colour with a strong malty fruity aroma, full body, definite sweet aftertaste with what I presume is licorice. Appreciated other badger ales but didnt really enjoy this one.

My local beer brewed just a few miles away, the flagship Badger beer in my book, rich comforting ,a great winter ale ,a bowl of spicy plums in a bottle, but not too sweet, a unique beer that stands out from the crowded ale market .

Bottle. Dark amber ale with a thick off-white head. Nose is like a bag of confectionary shrimps and pontefract cakes. Sugary licorice. In the mouth, it’s even more sugary. Getting a touch more sweet licorice. Maybe I’ve had this standing too long, but the sugars are taking over a bit too much. There’s a smidgin of damson. Not really subtle enough at this stage, for me.
