Commercial Description:
Bottle: Pasteurised.
Seeking out the treasures of the countryside and making the most of local ingredients is an art shared by Badger and the wily poacher. Badger's Poacher's Choice captures unique rural flavours in a smooth, dark ale enhanced by a touch of liquorice for spicy sweetness and damson for a soft, subtly fruity taste. A gutsy ale that's worth tracking down.

A smooth ale with a good mouthfeel - though it doesn’t quite feel 5.7%. There’s plenty of the fruit jam flavour, and it does work. It’s a shame this is filtered and pasteurised, and the quality of the added flavour ingredients isn’t better, because a lot of the character has been lost in the base beer, because damson and licorice do work well with a strong ale. It’s interesting - though a lot of these flavours could come from the use of appropriate malts and good brewing. This is cheap and lazy and it shows.

Bottle, thx to fonefan. It pours a clear, golden body with a quite small white head. Some licorice-like aromas combined with a malty background. Fennel, toffee and some butterscotch in the flavor. Medium body. It finishes with a malty sweetness, a licorice touch, fruityness and some bitterness. An unusual flavor profile still provides good drinkability, but it fails to excite or impress. Bottled. An amber beer with a lazing light tan head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of caramel, spices, and blueberries. The flavor is very sweet with strong notes of berries - especially blueberries, leading to a dry toffee finish. The berry note lingers in the mouth. Thanks to fonefan and Brugmansia for sharing.

Bottle@BlindTastingSession. Strong cassis aroma. Light brown color, white head, good lace. Very sweet start but this fades away quickly, light sourness, increasing bitterness to pretty bitter in the finish, cassis, laurel. Dry finish. Unbalanced and I don’t like cassis much.

Bottle, bought @ LIVA, Kolding.
Pours deep coppe with a small, creamy, off-white head. Aroma is quite fruity, some cardboard, cherries and liquorice. Medium mouthfeel, medium carbonation, quite dry. Flavour is very unbalanced, some berry-like fruitiness, sharp liquorice and hoppy dry finish. Not very pleasant.

50 cL bottle. Pours clear and golden hazzlenut brown with a diminishing off-white head. Mild spiced, liqourice and somewhat blueberry accent aroma. Blue-/blackberry and mild liqourice spiced flavour, slowly increasing. Berry fruity and liqourice finish.
