2.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
This smells sweet similarly to ESB but tastes pale and bitter. Hard to find an edge over the competition, but then, this is not worse also.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
500ml bottle. Pours clear, moderate amount of white head reducing to lacing. Aroma is earthy, mildly skunky. Must have Fuggles in it. Very bitter. Finish is abrupt, with a lingering toasty aftertaste.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
From can pours golden pale with small fizzy white head. Aroma is slightly spicy, grassy hop and caramel. Taste is mildly bitter and sweet. Easy drinking, not quite as spicey as I remember, decent but nothing special

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle from Sainsbury’s. Always surprises how pale Tanglefoot is, quite amber gold and bright in colour. Another overcarbonated pasteurised bottle, almost fizzy like Coke, lots of bubbles then flattens out. There is some fruitiness and an earthy hop twang but also a vaguely sulphury aroma and all tastes a bit muddled and bland. I think this is yet another one where the cask is better than a rather bland and fizzy bottle.

1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20
500ml bottle from Asda. Looks much like a supermarket bitter, copper with lively fizz, medium white head. Aroma is sharp and sweet, bit of fruit and malt. Taste is weak and bland malt, ok mouthfeel, a little watery. Not impressive.

2.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20

2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
500ml bottle. Clear golden orange colour with a small but creamy, smooth white head. Aroma is not very strong, some light malt, maybe some fruits. Flavour is also a little weak, just some light malts, fruity notes in the aftertaste, almost a little metallic though. Light bitterness. Watery feel. Bit boring really. Not one of Badger’s best.

2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Aroma starts quite fresh and fruity with pear, apple, butter, floral, but quickly dissipates leaving a dominant cardboard and wet wool note. Taste is lightly spiced pear and apple and , light bitter, light metallic finish, then more warm butter in the aftertaste. Sweet, light, fairly bland.

2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Clear 500ml bottle at home in Blaendulais. As ’Badger Tanglefoot’, 5%, BB Oct 2016. Totally clear golden orange, lightly sparkling, thin white head leaves full lacing. Aroma is buttered popcorn, light malt sugars. Body is medium, foamy, low carbonation. Taste is thin malts, more popcorn, light metallics, stainless steel, dry finish. This gets tiring pretty quickly, but it’s not that bad really. I would slightly prefer it to a macro lager.

2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
500ml bottle from JSG Wine Merchants, Hills Road, Cambridge. Blondish orange, very clear with a large and slightly rocky white head. Metallic smell, a bit of citrus and rosehip. Bittersweet taste with bitter hop to the fore. A big hit of sulphur in the finish. Typical supermarket bitter. Not much to write home about.
