COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A robust English Porter. Dark and delicious. Chocolate, rum and orange flavours all come from the five malts used.

(bottle) Very dark with pale tan head. Aroma is slightly tangy. Light body well carbonated giving superb mouthfeel. Excellent flavour with lovely balance between the sweet rich elements and the tarter ones.Distinct presence of chocolate and coffee at start transforming to a pleasant bitter finish. I am generally not fond of porters as I find the style has too much vinegary sourness, but this is very well done. A great porter; rich and complex but with elegance, clarity and balance.

Not a bad porter, except for the thin body. Lovely fruit nose on the roasted malts and some respectable chocolate. Flavour is cocoa, a bit of coffee, not too dark and a vey graceful bitterness. Much more of a London Porter than a "Badlands" face.

330ml bottle from Warners at the Bay bottle shop. It looks as though this beer as a thin body when it is poured. Roasted dark malt aromas emerge along with dark chocolate. Pours a black colour with a lazy tan head. Full flavoured beer that really fills the mouth with chocolate flavours and a mild bitterness. This is a good high quality beer.

May have a bottling problem here. First bottle I had was fine but the second, a month or so later seemed to be infected. Giving the brewer the benefit of the doubt by rating the uninfected bottle. A solid robust porter with no fireworks. Ticked the obvious boxes without warranting extra marks. Low head atop a dark body. Chocolate, coffee notes. Thinnish body. Some sour fruits in the finish. (Bottle from Carrington Cellars)

wondering how this will compare to the Mudgee. clove, frothy, woody, salty, lively, coffee, soft, thick, average, citrus, leather

a great local beer, that is best served chilled on a cold night with a roast

Bottle thanks to bluebetty. Dark brown with a coat of beige head. Aroma of chocolate, nuts and sour oranges. Taste has milk chocolate, nuts and apples and oranges, with far too much sourness for what it’s supposed to be. But - mildly infected or just past it - it’s still quite nice.

Bottle - dark and murky pour with next to no head. molasses and roast malt aromas. Very, very dry and bitter, too bitter for my tastes. I like porters but this is almost sour, not my cup of tea.

750ml bottle. Pours a murky brown-tinged black, with a smallish and quickly fading head, but thankfully its looks are deceiving. The aroma is classic porter - strong espresso mixes with milk chocolate, hazelnut and some dark roasted malt - and is extremely pleasant. Mild, peppery hops mix with coffee praline to start it off, moving into smooth, sweet milk chocolate in the middle, with mild coffee and toasty malt in the finish. Hazelnut praline lingers in the aftertaste. This is a thoroughly enjoyable beer, and proves the complexity of which porter is capable. A good brew from a promising emerging brewery.
