Eagle Harbor is our interpretation of a classic Northwest IPA. Recently the íMore is More!í camp have moved this noble style ever in the direction of increased alcohol and bitterness, flashy new hop varieties, and a tendency towards one-upsmanship. Weíve taken a step back, thought about what makes a great every-day IPA, and returned to our beloved NW IPAís roots. Hops include classic varieties, including Cascade, Nugget, Centennial, Apollo, and US Tettenang. Malts: ESB, Crystal 40, Special Aromatic, Wheat, Carahell, and Sour. Dryhopped and ran through several pounds of whole leaf Cascade in our hopback, Eagle Harbor presents a firm hop aroma, supported by enough malt character to keep you coming back for more.

Bomber from Malt & Vine. Pours bright copper with an off-white head. Aroma is spicy/grassy over a caramel backbone. Nice, but not offensively intense. Med body or better. Flavor is "tea" forward. Tastes like tea - Earl Grey even? Which is sort of citrus. Thereís a slight hop burn developing. Itís fruit and tea and bitter. Gets a bit citrus in the finish. This is not as expected, but it makes a strong statement!

Draft at the brewery. Brassy character, has a sweetish, berryish character, sweet malts, ok balance...sort of a basic IPA.

Bitter front end and finish. Nice flavor. Very drinkable. A little heavy. Lacks much hint of floral or citrus. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at Bainbridge Island, pours a clear copper golden with a small white head. Aroma reveals notes of light fruity hops, some resin, some pine. Flavour is quite hoppy, with resinous, piney and woody hops, with just enough biscuity malt backing. Well-balanced and with a nice hoppy punch without the astringency. Solid IPA.

22oz bottle in Seattle. Darker malty brown pour, firm grayish head. Rich aroma, deeper balance and malt than pure piney C hops. Body is a little underdone but this rounds nicely. Darker malt body but plenty of citrusy-pine hops to balance. Clean, crisp finish. Nice beer.

Poured from a bomber into a tumbler 06.27.15. Bottled 06.09.15. A: Grapefruit and bready malt. A: 1/2 finger off white head that fades to a bubbly, foamy ring. Hazy amber body. T: Bready malt dominates. Grapefruit, flower, maybe some raisin, and lingering pine are subtle. P: Crisp and bubbly. Itís a little watery, but it works to keep it light and refreshing. Thereís a bit of nice resin on the finish. O: I normally donít like malty East Coast style IPAs, but itís so approachable with a nice sweet piney bite on the end. Itís solid and refreshing.
