COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A wonderful spirit of camaraderie, cooperation and mutual support exists in the world of craft brewing. We have harnessed this spirit fully in the crafting of this special collaborative brew dedicated to the resilient people of Japan who are bravely endeavoring to overcome the tragedy of the March 11, 2011 earthquake and tsunami. We tip our brewing hats to the quiet elegance and humble sophistication of Japanese culture through the judicious addition of Japanese whole leaf green tea to this big, bold, spicy and herbal IPA. Cheers, Japan!

Gedronken in Brussel bij moeder Lambic, Gele kleur, echt een hele erge groene thee smaak. Wel lekker.

Bottle from 16 Tons. Light orange in color with a moderate white head that faded quickly. Aroma of citrus fruits and herbal tea notes. Nice mix of grapefruit and herbal tea flavors with well hidden alcohol and a bitter finish. Nice beer for a great cause.

From notes. First reviewed 8/22/2011. On tap in a short stange at the Stone Tap Takeover at Acre. This has a light hazy golden color with a small white head that laces the glass nicely. The aroma has a green tea base, with a fair amount of lemon, some grapefruit hops, and some biscuity malt. The flavor is terrible. Medicinal flavor, fusel alcohol, green tea, sweet biscuity malt, and some lemon zest are pretty much a mess. Astringent and dry, the mouthfeel is not very good. It also has a light to medium body and medium carbonation. I could not really drink much of this at all. It is definitely the worst Stone beer I have ever had.

Bottle from Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours orange copper with a modest beige head and a citrus aroma. There is a hearty caramel malt flavor with residual green tea taste and a peppery mouthfeel. An interesting and unique brew that is worth trying.

Could find this one at the beer store but Lori said sure we have it let me look. Couple boxes moved and we found it. Good citrus nose. Soapy yellow body with good head at first but disapated quickly to nothing. As got half way throgh noticed man sediment just floating like carbination bubbles in pint glass. Also some mud looking substance on the bottom. Good grapefuirt flavor bitter dry resin hops just lite up the palate. Good refreshing brew.

Bottle from Rick.
Pours an average cheddar orange with a nose of crisp, clean grapefruit and pine. Flavor is bitter floral grapefruit and perfumed lipstick. Average mouthfeel. Uber bitter.

The aroma is very hoppy with citrus hops and a bit of herbal tea but not much. The appearance is orange brown gold with a medium head. The taste is like the aroma. The palate is smooth. Overall a good beer but not exactly what I expected.

has a smooth presence yet the bitterness is rough and harsh, it has a nice balance of malt and hops but the hops are strong and stylized. the rest of the beer bring together and nice combo.

Heathen (1444) - Wilmington, Delaware, USA - JAN 23, 2012
THOUGHTS: Pretty much a double IPA with tea. Reminded me of when I mix unsweetened iced-tea with orange juice a little. Very citric. Not enough tea to make me think it wasn’t just a regular DIPA. TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a light orange with and average, off-white head that mostly diminished and left fair lacing. It also had tiny to small particles of average to thick density. The aroma had light to moderate caramel and candy; moderate to heavy pine and resinous hops; and lighter citric hops. The initial flavor was light to moderately sweet and moderately bitter; while the finish was moderately sweet and moderately bitter with an average to long duration. There was candy, caramel, tons of citrus hops, all different citrus fruits, a little pine hops and maybe a little honey. The medium body was a little syrupy and sticky on the the lips, but also oily with fizzy carbonation and an ever so slightly metallic finish.

Pours a nice orange/gold. Strong aroma of fresh hops. Some tea characteristics in the background. Hides the alcohol well.
