COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Beneath the cool facade of the warrior, a red-hot flame of intensity, determination and, yes, anger burns. So it is with this unpredictable Brown Ale: fleeting malty sweetness and warmth hide complexity, a barely controlled bitterness, and, naturally, a bit of an angry edge. You’ve really got yourself into a situation now. "Anger is energy. Use it, then let it go." Kampai!

The aoma is malt forward. Caramel, brown sugar, toasted malts. Pours a cloudy brown with a mostly diminishing tan head and no lacing. The taste is similar to the nose. Caramel, biscuit, with notes of molasses. There is a taste of grain in the finish with a bitter aftertaste. Medium-light body with moderate carbonation. Smoothish mouthfeel. Overall, enjoyable. One of the better Japanese beers I’ve tasted.

Bottle thank to a trade! Pours a hazy amber brown with a tan head that lasts throughout the beer. Aroma has a good amount of dark bread with a touch of sweetness and an underlying light grassy hop note. Flavor has the same dark bread that has a decent amount of musty grass hops.

Pours an orangey yellowish-beige head. The nose has big resin and light citrus with toffee and caramel malts. Sweet aroma with tons of resin. Flavor is rather light and sweet with ttons of resin and a smack of flavorful hops...not overly bitter though.

Bottle:   Rich caramel, like a burnt brown sugar color, large foamy light beige head, nice lacing.   Soft roastiness on the nose, very pale hops, slightly citrusy.   Not a robust or big porter, at least by the looks and smells.   A bit more fruity and citrusy on the tongue than others, not terribly hoppy, or overly roasty.   Mild Porter with more fruity/citrusy aspects than most.   Some caramel and bready notes on the finish.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate to full.   Lingering spicy citrus notes, caramel, soft roast, and sweet wheat bread like characteristics.   Not what I was expecting, but it works.

This is a very good brown ale. It has pungent aromas of toffee and caramel. The body is very smooth with light carbonation. It has a delicate sweet maltiness up front but a nice dry taste lingering in the finish. The bitterness burning within is very subtle. A must try for fans of the style.

12 oz bottle pours a cloudy medium brown with 2-finger beige head and good lacing. Aroma is full of roasted and caramel malts with some nuts, bread, and toffee. Taste is sweet with a slightly dry, nutty finish. Body is lighter than I expected. Mouthfeel is creamy smooth with only slight carbonation. This is the best beer from Japan I have tried so far, and a decent brown ale at that.
