Hand pump at the Taproom. Light body, inviting smoky aromas. Nutty, malty, lightly smoky. Not a big fan of the hand pump but this was ok. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Aroma hard to pick up, slightly roasty. Not particularly heavily smoked, just a light dusting of smoke over an OK brown ale. A little thin.

140 ml glass on cask at Baird’s Bashamichi Taproom. Dark amber with light tan head. Aromas of caramel, toffee, roast. Tastes of toffee, roast, light smoky notes. Medium-light body with a dry finish. Pretty nice.

Plum, nutty, low carbonation, smoky finish. Not my style but a well done cask ale.

5.7% cask on tap, 1000 yen tasting set at Basamichi taproom(200 yen more than Numazu). A clear dark ruby brown. Smooth, woodsy, maple, caramel, tasty stuff. nutty, a touch sweet but creamy & great. Chocolatey nose, smooth, easy drinking velvety goodness. A great cask ale.

Tap in Bashamichi Tap Room. Really dark brown ale, reddish edges. Nose is very malty, chocolate and roasted malt. Some ale fruitiness but it’s mainly a lot of malt. Nice chocolatey ale with good balance in those malty flavours.

Smoked ale to go along with Chuck’s smoked meats. Not overly smokey as Mark said, just a solid bodied ale with some cured ham and salted fish. Fairly easy drinking and straight forward. Good for a few.

Handpump at the Taproom. Something like a smoked brown ale. Caramel aroma with rather lightish smoke. Smokier flavor with caramel, chocolate. Smoke still medium level, less than in Bamberg. A very tasty smoked ale, almost flat, with a very smooth, rich body. Great with BBQ.
