3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
22oz bottle -
Suprised to find this and several other offerings from Baird at my local BevMo. Intrigued by an imperial stout from Japan, I got this and the other bottles. The aroma carries aromas of dark chocolate, molasses with a touch of alcohol burn. Flavor has a strong showing of dark chocolate, very dry and it dominates pretty much everything in the flavor other than a strong showing of chocolate. Mouthfeel is on the lighter side of things, but still dense enough to notice its not a watery lager. Overall, not a bad imperial stout. Far from an elite stout, or even an above-average "damn this is good" stout. The one dimensional chocolate and alcohol notes detract from the overall enjoyment of the beer.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
12oz bottle into a goble. Bottle says 9%. Gonna have to follow up on that.. Pours black as night with a thin tan head. Aroma is vanilla, bittersweet chocolate, slightly oxidized...but it works? Taste is bitter, chocolate, espresso, light floral notes...like chewing chocolate-covered espresso beans. This is...excellent.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
"an interesting mix of stout flavors that are not always found in the same stout. chocolate, hops, licorice, dark fruit are all prevelant, though it wasn’t quite as hoppy as i thought it would be. thick full feel, but really a well-rounded medium bodied impy stout. a very good beer, barely above average for the style."

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Overly bitter for my liking - almost astringent. Lots of roast and some coffee. Thick consistency. Some dark chocolate. Medium bitter finish. Black pour. Tap at Churchkey.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Taster on tap at Ei8ht Ball. Pours a very dark brown color. Clear around the edges. Very little bit of off-white lace on this. A ridge of lace. Nice coffee in the flavor, some licorice, dark fruit. Little dark chocolate. Medium body. Very light carbonation. More slick texture. Seems like it could be more carbonated. Some tropical fruity hop character to it. Moderate sweet, moderate bitter. Solid, interesting imperial stout.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle, 06/02/2014. Pours black, light tan creamy head rests to a fine foamy haze on the surface, thin dense ring of lacing builds up around the glass. Aroma is chocolate brownie, pleasant full roast, dark fruits hiding underneath, noticeable hops adding a nice dimension, all well put together. Taste is lightly sweet chocolate, fruity with cherry licorice, dark roast, touch of coffee, tobacco, moderate lingering bitterness. Medium full body, really well balanced, very drinkable. Quite tasty.

Taster - nose is coffee. Sip adds chocolate. Oddly light yet chokful of flavor. Short finish and almost refreshing. Roasty.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle shared by wihorock in Oct. 2012. Pours dark brown to black in color with a small tan head. The aroma and flavor has roasted malts, soy, dark fruits, dark chocolate, licorice with a mild nutty character. Not bad for an under the radar beer.
