COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Imperial Stout is the biggest of the black beers and to drink Baird Dark Sky is to experience a foreboding libation. The aroma is gorgeously complex (dry hopping with American Centenniel & Amarillo hops) and the flavor is a stunning smorgasbord (chocolate, toffee, herbs, coffee, licorice, etc.). The mouthfeel is soft and enveloping. The finish is piquantly acrid and warming (alcohol approximately 7.6%).

Serving: from tap at Brouwers Cafe. Aroma: light-to-medium raisin malt. Appearance: no head. Cola-like brown body. Taste: lightly sweet, raisiny initial flavor and lightly bitter, heavily roasty finish with long duration. Palate: heavy body, with syrupy texture, flat carbonation and alcoholic finish feel. Overall: amazing palate--thick, smooth and syrupy. Very good flavor. Nice.

Draught at Bungalow 10%ABV. Jet black with a tan head and good lacing. Sweet, malty aroma, not too roasted. Great carameland chocolate flavour with a bit of coffee. Canít believe I havenít tried this before.

Poured from a 12. Appearance is very syrupy and thick. First flavor is a little thin, sweet at first and finishes with a chocolate, tobacco flavor. It smells boozier than it tastes. Has hints of caramel and vanilla for the sweet flavors.

A lighter-bodied Imperial stout. Aroma is marshmallow and dark chocolate. Taste is dark chocolate, booze and maybe a tiny bit of coffee, along with lightly-roasted malt. Itís very light-bodied for the style and feels like itís missing something. Itís good, but not great.

22oz bottle - Suprised to find this and several other offerings from Baird at my local BevMo. Intrigued by an imperial stout from Japan, I got this and the other bottles. The aroma carries aromas of dark chocolate, molasses with a touch of alcohol burn. Flavor has a strong showing of dark chocolate, very dry and it dominates pretty much everything in the flavor other than a strong showing of chocolate. Mouthfeel is on the lighter side of things, but still dense enough to notice its not a watery lager. Overall, not a bad imperial stout. Far from an elite stout, or even an above-average "damn this is good" stout. The one dimensional chocolate and alcohol notes detract from the overall enjoyment of the beer.

12oz bottle into a goble. Bottle says 9%. Gonna have to follow up on that.. Pours black as night with a thin tan head. Aroma is vanilla, bittersweet chocolate, slightly oxidized...but it works? Taste is bitter, chocolate, espresso, light floral notes...like chewing chocolate-covered espresso beans. This is...excellent.

"an interesting mix of stout flavors that are not always found in the same stout. chocolate, hops, licorice, dark fruit are all prevelant, though it wasnít quite as hoppy as i thought it would be. thick full feel, but really a well-rounded medium bodied impy stout. a very good beer, barely above average for the style."

Overly bitter for my liking - almost astringent. Lots of roast and some coffee. Thick consistency. Some dark chocolate. Medium bitter finish. Black pour. Tap at Churchkey.
