COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Hop Havoc Anniversary Ale enjoys a malt base similar to what one might find in a strong pale ale (e.g. 13.9 P made up of Maris Otter and Carahell), but the hopping is what one would see in a double IPA (e.g. 90 IBUs and double dry-hopping with Columbus, Citraand Cascade varieties). The hallmarks of Baird Beer, though, abound everywhere, from the unfiltered hop haze to the soft and natural carbonation to the powerful yet balanced and un-heavy flavor profile.

Good stuff. Very hop salad like on the nose - Citrus, tropical fruits, some wild berries. Soft but solid bitterness. A little rough and ready initially (kiwi hops?), but a well rounded finish.

Keg at Harajuku taproom. Orange colour with small golden head. Aroma is bitter, fruity, particularly grapefruit, other citrus too, and that cat pee/b.o. smell you sometimes get with high hop beers. Taste nice and bitter, but not as much as the aroma. Very nice in that hop monster way.

pineapples, apples, pine, fairly yeasty. Rounded and smooth. Decent without being outstanding.

Doesn’t quite work for me. The hops are a bit strong in the bitterness and back end. Leaves a tad bitter but heavy feeling finish. Possibly the Scottish ale yeast again? Still, it’s a nice well made beer. Unfiltered but clear. I’d prefer a little more aroma and perhaps light fruity flavour in there, seeing as it’s designed as an IPA with their american styled DIPA hopping schedule. Don’t think this one quite works. An interesting choice for their 11th Anniversary beer but they make better beers, IMO. A lot of poeple had hoped for a gloriously hopped IPA. Tastes more like a normal higher end strength IPA with a bit too muich hop bitterness.

Bomber. Huge citrus hop aroma, fruit salad, grapefruit, pineapple, melon. Cloudy amber color. Clean, light, malt flavor with big bitterness. Grapfefruit zest. Dry, light, and very nice.
