COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In a hazy golden hue reminiscent of the morning sun rising up above Mount Fuji, Japan Tale Ale presents itself immediately as a Japanese story. The pure white head of billowy foam hints at the fabled origins of this great island country -- the Sun Goddess, Amaterasu. The sophisticatedly understated aroma of tart Japanese plums speaks of the history of the Imperial Court as it might have existed in the ancient city of Kyoto during the Heian era. The light, almost ephemeral delicacy of flavor tips its hat to the storied history of the Japanese artisan (the potters and the swordmakers, the flower arrangers and the Geisha performers). Beneath this delicacy, though, there exists a flavor character of strength and steely determination that tells of the history of the great Japanese warriors -- the Samurai. An overriding sense of balance and unselfish purpose serves to tie the tale together as if somehow echoing the essence of an informally yet unmistakably united national polity.

Hazy golden color. Light fragerant nose. Peaches and a touch of ume tartness. Very idosynchractic. Very carbonated. Light plum finish. My friend said it got lost on him the complexity. I would have to agree. If you arenít hard core about beer it would be hard to get.

Nice looking hazy golden with a medium head. Light tart fruit, some hops, and a little malt. Itís nice, but I wish it was stronger. Flavor is similar, but rather weak, unfortunatly. Medium, well carbonated body. Baird produces some great beers and this one is almost one of them, but itís a little on the weak side.

Bottle, 633ml, at Patricks. A hazy, yellowish golden beer topped by a small white head. Fruity nose, apricot and some perfumed notes. A bit sweet on the palate, medium body. Apricot, hints of cellar and not enough hops in the flavor. Apricot and malty sweetness in the finish. An easy drinkable beer that wonít exite or offend anyone. 100213

Pours very pale straw with a fading head. Nose shows some funk and sweet stonefruit along with faint wheat. Acidic flavours, but with doughy notes underneath and the faintest hint of more stonefruit. Very drinkable but not all that interesting. Needs more carbonation.

Draught at Goodbeer Faucets Hakata.
Hazy orange with a fluffy white head. Smells like plums, lime and grains. Tastes of tart fruit and sourdough with moderate carbonation. Pretty nice..

A fruit beer made with plum. 5.5% a super cloudy straw gold with a fluffy white head & a fresh plum aroma. The flavor is a mild zesty plum but the mouthfeel is thin & a bit watery with low carbonation. Zesty citrus that mellows into plum. Decent but it needs a bit more body & carbonation. Near the end of my glass the sweetness was getting slightly cloying but overall very nice.

633 ml bottle, as Baird Beer Japan Tale Ale 2009, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6%. Cloudy pale brownish yellow colour, big to moderate white head. Pleasant fruity aroma, notes of plums and citrus, also sweetish malts, hints of caramel and wood. The flavour is very fruity and fairly sweet, notes of plums and citrus again, with a mild spiciness in the finish.

Bottle. Hazy orange body with a fine off-white head. Aroma is light fruity like citric and fresh red berries with caramel. Flavor is sweet malty with fruit from both citric and red berries and a mild bitterness. The hop flavor is quite mild, but distinct and gets more present in the aftertaste. Quite pleasant, for me this is like a session beer with a gentle complexity that become more difficult to find after a few stronger beers.
