330ml bottle (Hopner, Tallinn, meet the brewer tap takeover)
Kinda cookie-cutter belgian ale aroma. Some alcohol too, but otherwise cleanish. Bit of popcorny malts in the taste, again a bit of alcohol. Nice full bitter hops, particularly in the late finish, I wish more belgians would add this level of hopping, it helps cut through the sweetness. However, there’s something that doesn’t quite grab me about this, perhaps the alcohol’s a problem.

Hazy yellow amber, medium white head, thin retention. Spicy, hoppy, malty, fruity nose. Flavor is more spice and hops, lemony notes, smooth malts with mild sweetness. Finishes with spicy hops, malt, citric notes linger. Nicely balanced.

Baird Joie de Vivre - 6% A seasonal golden ale from Baird from the bottle at Lingua World Cafe. A clear deep gold with a thick dense head of foam & great lacing. Fruity, soft chewey wheat maybe even a bit peppery - an inviting aroma. Great soft body with round carbonation caressing your tastebuds. The taste is a mite tangy, lemon, white pepper & wheat. Refreshing summery beer that evokes a saison or lighter bodied belgian golden ale with a dry finish. Good stuff. Brewed in 6/22/2014 so this has held up well.

Pours golden, more on the darker side. Quite transparent but not completely. Foamy, leaves nice lacing. Aroma subtle, a bit of spices and bit of candysugar. Taste is also bitter-spicy. Kind of as I remember beers to be in Belgium. This time hops feel fresher and more fragrant though. Sweetness also there but not too much. Aftertaste dry, bitter and medium lenght. Nice take on a simple belgian style.

Bottle from Asahiya. Light citrusy nose, with some graininess and spice. Hazy amber/orange color. Mild citrus initial, caramel, and very gentle bittering in mid and final. Medium body, with light tang, Smooth and fresh. Not bad.

Yeasty, pear, cereal bread, touch of ethanol, mild spicy finish. Simple and fairly uninspiring Belgian ale.
