COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
There is a tradition in the world of ale brewing to craft celebratory holiday ales that incorporate festive spices and perhaps other special ingredients. Baird Jubilation Ale is brewed within the context of this tradition and in the spirit of joyful celebration. A hearty ale with a rich malty base and soothing alcoholic warmth (ABV 6.5%), Jubilation Ale is made luxuriant by deft additions of two wonderful ingredients: (1) fully ripened figs candied in the country kitchen of our friend, Shoko-chan, and (2) cinnamon twigs culled from a Japanese Nikki tree. A sublimely balanced interplay between sweet and spice reminiscent of the yin-yang duality of life results. The ruby-red hue and the wafting aroma of cinnamon warm the heart and furbish the soul.

bottle via superdave on 1/25/2010. orange red pour... hazy with an off white head. initially, this smells very vegetal and sweet... no, it smells that way throughout... cinnamon, caramel, malt and the earthy insides of figs. the flavor matches the aroma only it is on the sweeter side of what i tend to like... add in some brown sugar, a ton of spiciness and a bitter yeasty finish to round things out. the medium body is made harsh from the spices and crisp carbonation. meh 6/4/6/3/14/3.3

Medium pale beige head. Hazy amber body with floaties. Malty resiny minty aroma, very harmonic. Dry-sweetish minty oxidized malty taste with strawy soda notes. Mild mouthfeel. Fullish yet light body. Dryish peppery minty aftertaste with malty gingery notes. Nice, mild, drinkable, unusual. (0.36l bottle, Olympen, Oslo. Bottle says 2007.)

Bottle shared by 3/4. This was pretty much a letdown after mildly enjoyed the amber and pale from this brewery. Just seemedvery understated overall withno flavor pronounced at all. Not offensive, but offensively unoffensive.

Bottle. Looks nice. Full head on copper. Light quiet earthy scent. Malt fig favoured born or dark amber ale. A bit of dubbel. Just a hint of cinnamon if you insist. Better than I expected.

Poured out an amberishy red brew that is fairly hazy with a medium sized off white cap. This has a nice, soft aroma of spices that consist of cinnamon, figs follow with some depth, caramel and bread, light fruity sweetness. Very good flavour of cinnamon, bread, white pepper, caramel and thickness with a consistency of uncooked dough. Figs, lightest of citrus, weak hops and a bit astringent at the bottom of my glass. Decent brew that I had no problem drinking a whole bottle of but don’t see getting this again.

Bottle shared by Tmoney99. Pours a hazy reddish amber color with a medium sized off white head. The aroma is sweet fruity, cinnamon, figs and dates and almost a touch oxidized. The flavor is more sweet fruit centered around figs, some cinnamon, honey with mild bitterness to the finish.

650ml bottle pours amber in color with a small off-white head that leaves little lacing on the glass. Aroma is fruity with some cinnamon. Taste is fruity sweet with some maltiness and cinnamon spice with a slight trace of hops in the finish. An interesting brew that was somewhat enjoyable, but not something I could drink daily.

Bottle 650ml.
Clear dark amber color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, caramel, thyme, cinnamon. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate spicy bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20090821]
