Wow. I may be new to quality beer, but this was a treat. Home consumed draught in a howler. Poured clear dark amber brown, minimal head but lovely lacing. Hearty nose of coffee / caramel / chocolate, with a little breadyness. A little herb-iness perhaps. Strong flavour, only slight bitterness, but mouth filling creamy richness. Soft carbonation, but most certainly because this was a draft brought home. Unexpectedly, the palate was left surprisingly clean with little residual flavour.
Later, sipped while enjoying a light tiramisu cake, and I almost exploded from the experience. JOY!

Very dark brown pour with a large off-white head. The aroma is fairly faint but I get a little roasted malt and some chocolate. The flavor is full of heavily roasted malt. milk chocolate and a bit of grass. There is a slight metallic note in the flavor as well. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 mkel07 (2340) - Brisbane, AUSTRALIA - MAR 7, 2013
360ml bottle from Archive Beer Boutique. Baird Brewing generally produce good beers and this porter is no exception. Black as the ace of spades with a big tan head. Aromas are okay but you have to work the nose hard to get the coffee and vanilla. Good flavour with a faint hint of sweetness in the background that just takes the edge off the mild bitterness.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Scrapersnbeer (977) - Boston, Massachusetts, USA - FEB 21, 2013
Aroma of roast coffee and fruity hops. Almost black, looks very dense. Tastes of smokey chocolate and coffee. I feel like I always say this about porters’ taste, although this one has some more dark fruit elements than some, in the way I might expect a porter to taste if brewer by Huyghe or something. Thick and viscous though not overbearing. Brewed under Mount Fuji...cheers.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Jado (250) - Camp Hill, AUSTRALIA - FEB 20, 2013
Poured a dark brown to black with a thin tan head and unexpectedly lively carbonation. Smells great, with dark fruits and chocolate dominating the nose. The taste is very balanced, with coffee and stewed fruit giving way to some milk chocolate at the back end. Light to medium bodied, but with a very smooth, almost creamy mouthfeel. Overall, a very more-ish lighter style porter.

Bottle shared with northropfrye. A nice beer. Dark chocolate and coffee, dried fruit. Bitter taste, but with some sweetness. I enjoyed this beverage.
