3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Cybercat (1899) - USA - MAR 3, 2009
My first whiff when I opened the bottle was rather fruity, more like a cider than a porter; the next whiff, though, was smoky and had a coffee tang. It pours a dark chocolaty brown with a fairly thick pale tan head that does not stick around for too long. Flavor has a strong burnt coffee component and a fruity, slightly sweet undertone. Texture is smooth and quite tingly, but not nice and thick like the best porters I have sampled. All in all, not a great porter, but definitely enjoyable.

A solid porter. A real good roast and burnt malt aroma. A good dry roast presence with hints of coffee and chocolate, but mostly roast. I would have liked it a bit heavier, but well done.

Dark brown pour with thick foamy tan head. Nose is dark chocolate, coffee and light hops. Taste is more chocolate than coffee, slightly bitter on the finish. Fairly light carbonation and mouthfeel. Not terribly complex, but a decent porter.

Sampled on 3/23/2012. This porter pours a medium to dark brown/black color from a 120z bottle. Small to medium sized tan foamy head. The aroma is chocolate, coffee and sweet. A medium bodied porter. The malts are chocolate, coffee and cola. The hops are earthy and herbal. Nice carbonation. Decent balance. Touch of roasty malt, chocolate and cola at the finish. A little lingering bitterness. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Slight tan head. Lots of micro fine bubbles. Dark born body. Reminds me of what Coke looks like when poured in a glass. Aroma of woody grains. Flavor is bitter coffee. Nice light bodied porter.
