COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Milk stouts get their name from additions of lactose either during kettle boil or at packaging or both. They fall under the general category of ’sweet stouts,’ which tend to be characterized by dextrin-rich wort that is fermented to low attenuation and thus is moderate in alcoholic strength, rich in flavor and robust in mouthfeel. Mama’s Milk Stout is all of these things.

As others have said, drinks higher than 4.5%. Flinty and oily in the trademark stout/porter Baird style. Nice sweet molasses and unfermented malt nose. A bit of roast as well. Pretty good, but not too different from their other stouts.

Nice rich roasted malty nose. Big roasty mouth that is somewhat smooth. Roasted malty finish. Drinks bigger than 4%.

Pours deep brown with a large, dark tan head that refused to go quietly into the night. Aroma is roasted malts, coffee, chocolate, oats, and light anise. Has a medium, creamy mouth. Flavor is roasted, coffee, cocoa, and some smoke. A real tasty stout but I could use more complexity.

Quickly thinning bubbly brown head. Black beer. Creamy oatmeal chocolate aroma, heavy on the chocolate. Nice drinkable chocolate stout. Some coffee notes. Finish has a dark fudge or cocoa taste. Low ABV would allow you to drink a few pints.
