3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 EdKing (936) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - JAN 15, 2012
On tao in Bashimachi Tap Room. Colour is oily back, with a rainbow bubbly head. Nose is really nice sweet chocolate, roasted malt and some earthiness. Taste is dark chocolate, strong alcoholic kick like an imperial stout, earthy roasted malt and some coffee on the finish. Dry and sweet and very nice.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Mortlach (433) - Rome, ITALY - JUL 22, 2011
22/07/2011 Brasserie 4:20 (bottle).

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20 TheJollyOne (221) - Sydney, AUSTRALIA - MAY 27, 2009
UPDATED: MAY 26, 2012 Draught at the Nakameguro Taproom. Black with small bubbily head, giving away the thin mouth feel to come. Smell was roasted coffee mixed with the vinous baird hops and some chocolate as well. Dark chocolate and coffee cream taste, some hop presence as well. I was in my cups at this point but really liked this one.
Re-rate from 2010 bottle found in Australia. Palate is a bit thin still but nice and creamy, head is wonderfully pillowy and tan. Had to up the score - Baird is on a world scale, amazing brews!
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 omhper (15956) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - MAY 22, 2009
Draught at Baird Naka-Meguro Taproom. Very dark brown, small head. Soy sauce and chocolate strikes first. Salty with solid ful packed body. Lots of hop bitterness that sets in early and lasts long. Plenty of oil and licorive to go with it. Fairly drinkable despite immense bitterness.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 KyotoLefty (3752) - Kyoto, JAPAN - MAY 22, 2009
Draught at the Nakameguro Taproom. Black with a milkshake-like head. Sweetish aroma, creamy, chocolate and a bit of coffee. Very sweet flavor. Chocolate and some café au lait. Nice, slightly woody, but the body is thin and the carbonation too strong.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 jonno (1454) - JAPAN - MAR 7, 2009
Boys done well here. On tap at the Taproom. Looks a bit cobbled, with a wispy head. Decent aroma of coffee and chocolate. Nice mouthful that goes on and on. Lots of dark malty goodness. Finish is long and moderately bitter. A great beer
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Capa (1627) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 2, 2008
Black with a hefty tan head. Roasted malts, some coffee, cocoa, some dark fruit, and mulch. Flavor is full of dark roasted malts, coffee, cocoa, a bit oily, and the earthy mulch shows up for a brief instant. Full bodied and proper stout carbonation. A very nice stout.

Draught at Popeye, Tokyo. Black with a creamy tan head. Chocolate and espresso both in the nose and in the mouth. A good strong stout, no doubt.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 CaptainCougar (6833) - Columbia, Maryland, USA - NOV 19, 2007
Bottle sampled on 9/15/07: Pours a nearly opaque with ruby mahogany hues and a spotty-lacing tan head. Aroma of smoky roasty dark malts and some dark chocolatey notes. Body starts with good dark caramel sweetness and a touch of earthy chocolatey complexity and a smooth chocolate and espresso finish. A nice stout.
