Baird Old Brown Ale is brewed to moderate gravity, 12.8 Plato, and enjoys a typically eclectic Belgian grist bill which includes both malted and un-malted wheat as well as malted rye. Hop bittering is moderate at 22 IBUs while hop aroma is little to none. Fermented warm with a Belgian yeast strain, the flavor manages at once to be sweet and a touch tart. The overall character is perhaps best described as sessionably complex.

Didn’t do a lot for me. Not very flemish. Some vinegar, caramel sweetness and tart finish. Flavours are muted and its a tad watery.

330 ml bottle @ Goodbeer Faucets. Pours quite clear with a thin lacing, not really a top to talk about. Looks like beers I remember having had in England. Taste s rather sweetish, some caramelised sugar. Quite intensive actually, light molasses and carbonation mix in my mouth, giving way to a short and moderately bitter finish. At 4,5%alcohol this beer is a good one to start an evening with.

Tap at Yellow Ape. Amber coloured, small off-white head. Aroma is slightly nutty, malty too, brown bread, fruity, berries. Taste is slightly sour, bit of fruit again, some Belgian sweetness. Pretty nice. Not as sour as I was expecting. Will definitely have it again.

Tap at Baird Nakameguro taproom, 06/29/2013. Pours hazy, reddish brown, white head, thin ring of lacing. Aroma is light caramel, nutty malts, lightly sweet red fruit, slight funk/tartness but quite subtle. Rich, nutty flavor, caramel malts, touch of citrus. Light body, very drinkable. Enjoyed this one, nice.
