This was much smoother the second time it was released - from the original batch - in 2009. Smooth body with touches of whiskey and chocolate. Definetely leaning towards a Baltic Porter. Well balanced. Slight warming finish. Yum.

Rating #600. Bottle at Bulldog’s in Tokyo. Poured deep brown with tantalizing ruby highlights. Toasted malts, cocoa, slight sourness, and a touch of milk. Thin body. Flavor is roasted, sour, light caramel malts, cocoa, and some dark fruit. A nice porter that is easily drinkable and refreshing. Better than the Kurofune; I wish they’d replace it with this one.

Bottle at Tanakaya in Tokyo. Imperial porter? Very very bitter, and a little thinner than Baird’s Kurofune Porter. A special brew? Too bitter for me, yet a good effort. More red than brown.
