3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from 16th St. Liquor in West Vancouver. Pours amber, beige head, thick. Aroma is malty, hoppy with fresh citrus notes. Retains the familiar Baird yeast aroma. Taste, malty, followed by some floral sweetness, caramel malts, keep a good malt profile. Thin yeasty deposit in the bottle. Decent.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
This was poured into a pint glass.
The appearance was a nice hazy amber to brown color with a decent one finger white foamy head that dissipated within less than a minute. There was some light to somewhat foamy lacing trying to stick to the sides but it slides for the most part.
The smell was pretty good as it had a nice blend of sweet caramel malts to sweet citrusy fruits.
The taste was mainly sweet through everything combined. There was a pretty good sweet aftertaste that lead to a dry finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a pretty good sessionability about it. The carbonation seems appropriately styled and was pretty good all around.
Overall, well gee. I’ve been having some Amber/Red ales lately and a fair amount of them just have seemed to be on par but this one because of the hoppiness that comes out but still doesn’t come across as overbearing, I’d take this one over a fair amount of other Red ales these days.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Visual: 100% Japanese label other than the name,a true import. But I had to go to the specialty liquor shops in Japan to find Baird beers. Pours cloudy iced tea brown with a nice sized foamy head, a thin layer of retention, some lacing, several steady singular streams.
Nose: clean, medium-sweet caramel malts. Very nice. (lvl-8)-pungency
Attack: creamy-smooth mouthfeel
Mid-palate: fizzy-tingly, (lvl-6)-sweetness, (MAIN) caramel malts, light cocoa, almost milky
Finish: soft medium bitter pine hops + cocoa finish.
Summary: Crazy smooth and easy-sipping. Once again I’m surprised at the fact I finished this beer in under 5 minutes just tasting it.

Balanced, good beer.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
360 ml bottle bought at YATA in Grand Century Place in Mong Kok.
Cloudy hazy dark amber red colour with chocolate-colour dirt like yeast sediments; One finger head with beautiful, crumpety off white foam which lasts for 2 minutes; Excellent sticky lacing with slight carbonation; Quite fragrant sweet aroma of full ale malt, with dark fruit, honey, chocolate, caramel, bread, yeast, light lemon and grass; Mid to light sweet taste of full ale malt, with very light grapefruit, faint cherry, dry biscuits, bread, yeast, molasses, liquorices, lime and grassy hops; Medium body, quite thick and slick palate; Mouth feel is full Ale - close to Premium Bitter - with pretty sharp German Pils-like bitterness. Minimal sweetness, thin but notable red fruits, bone-dry and bready, thick and slick. I like it! Hoppiness is red fruit and like grass nose, limey and herbal grass taste. Good dose of liquorices for a pretty licking bitter finish; Very dry after taste, crisp and nicely bitter to mouth.
Comments: As a Cali Common, this one is a bit simple in taste variety, but the looks, body, aroma, dryness and bitterness are as good as they can get. No detour or bumpy ride throughout, very enjoyable all the way. Recommended of course!

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
5.5% half-pint at CBB. Nice cloudy amber honey color with a thin filmy head. Caramel & some sort of herbal/spice quality I can’t pin down in the aroma. The body is smooth but thin with a very light carbonation. The taste is lightly bitter, acidic with a bit of caramel in the finish. An ok ale, slightly bitter but fairly well balanced.
