Bottle from EDA. Nice label on this one. Nice head too. Pale yellow-orange pour. Aroma is fierce, bitter hops, sausage, like a summer barbeque. Flavor is fairly dull, a little bit of pepper, sweat, finishing hops.

Draught at Popeye, Tokyo. Hazy amber with a small head. Slightly acidic fruit aroma with apples and passion fruit. Passion fruit flavours and medium bitterness. Quite complex.

Bottle sampled on 9/15/07: Pours a clean golden with a thin wispy-lacing white head. Aroma of grainy pale malt and resiny piny hop presence. Starts fairly full with a toasty grainy malty character and mild bittering hoppy balance. A decent APA.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 BückDich (5468) - McCall, Idaho, USA - OCT 7, 2007
Cask @ Popeye’s: Hazy copper, no head, nose of light pale hop, nice dry sweet floral hop notes. The flavor is hoppy, very little carbonation, so the nose suffers and there are some full hoppy notes in the tail. O.

Poured a hazed light copper color with a minimal off-white head. The aroma was hoppy with citrus and grassy notes over a caramel base. Light malt flavor with a hoppy middle. There was a hint of bitterness on the finish. Semi-dry with a light-medium body.

Thanks to daijokey for sharing at JoeMcphee’s place - hazy straw-colored beer - slight oxidation hints that this beer didn’t survive the trip unscathed, but a strong, piney, american hop nose blast through anyway - flavor is grainy, with earthy hops and notes of buttered bread coming through - distinctly american citrus hop profile - a solid pale.

[tap at Popeye]
Pine and black pepper aroma followed by a little grapefruit. Almost clear tawny gold with no top. Nice maltiness in excellent balance with citrusy and piney hops, though a little thin. Low carbonation, medium body, lasting bitterness.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 15/20 bluekuma (94) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - FEB 24, 2007
Tap at Popeye, Tokyo. Copper hued ale with slight head . Slighty hazy. Hoppy, ctrussy aroma. Palate...OK, problem. This is a cask-conditioned beer which was served here as a keg beer-with the addition of extraneous CO2. The palate becomes harshly fizzy and dissolved gas blunts what should be a balanced, hoppy brew. Popeye otherwise serve two or three handpumped real ales like, for example, Baird’s Workingman’s Dark Mild- an English-style mild no less which went down very well.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 jonno (1454) - JAPAN - FEB 24, 2007
A very respectable Pale Ale, but nothing to distinguish it. I wouldn:t turn down a free pint though
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Capa (1627) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 10, 2007
Poures a nice copper orange with a small white head that left in a hurry. Aroma is of hops and citrus. Orange comes through in the end aroma as well. Tastes much like its aroma. Very smooth and easy to drink. The hops are nice but not overpowering. A slight bite in the finish. Has a nice creamy and full body. A very good brew.
