Bottle (gift from Neko-chan). Smooth chocolate roastiness with some coffee notes. Dark brown with a 1-cm light beige head. Creamy mild chocolate flavor. Pretty consistent from initial to finish, without much development in flavors. Thin-medium body. Had this years ago, and it wasn’t nearly this good. A very pleasant mild stout.

Keg at the Harajuku taproom. Dark brown with small golden head. Aroma is soy sauce, roasty, bit of coffee, touch of smoke (and bacon). Taste is slightly creamy but mostly roasty bitterness. More of the savoury meat and soy sauce thing. Long lasting roasty finish. Bit of sweet malt hidden in there too. Nice and sessionable.

Bottle. Completely black with a small tan head. Nice aroma with malts and some coffee. Mouthfeel is soft with minimal carbonation. Taste begins like your usual stout and then ends up with nice coffee/espresso finish. Very drinkable stout.

Bottle from Tanakaya. Pours black with brown edges and a nice foamy almost creamy off white head. Nose is roasted malt, but also a bit of zingy citrous hops. Taste is dominated by the roasted malt, with coffee and touch of chocolate, but theres a really nice citrous hop undercurrent which gives this a broader depth. Very nice stout.

360ml brown bottle. Pours deep dark brown with mahogany highlights. Great head - quite thick, creamy, longlasting, beige in colour. Nose has dark chocolate and a decent level of roasted malt. Very light hop note. Roasty malt in the mouth, some coffee and chocolate. Decent roasted malt bitterness and light hops in the aftertaste. Medium bodied, fine carbonation. Dry stouts do not often excite me, but this is quite enjoyable, would have no problem sessioning this.

330ml bottle pours almost black in color with a plentiful light brown head with good retention leaving a nice lacing on the glass. Aroma is roasted malts and chocolate. Taste is roasted malty bitterness balanced with the malty sweetness and some hoppy bitter notes in the finish. Light to medium body and adequate carbonation. Although a little thin in the body, I really enjoyed the balance of flavors that this stout offered. Well done!!!

Pours black with a small, light tan head. Nose is restrained but shows soft roasted malt and dark fruits. Bigger roasty flavours, with hints of coffee and oatmeal. Unfortunately the body seems watery. Somewhat plain.

Looks a lot like guinness. Aroma is roasted with hints of peat. Flavour is roasted with peat and some bitter coffee. Real-ale -like palate is a bit watery. A decent Guinness clone but the bitter coffee disturbs me a bit.

This is a good dry stout, some nice roasty characters. I would like to try this again at a different time as this was tasted in the middle of some pretty big imperial stouts.

Bottle 330ml. Exceptional stout. Aromas of chocolate, raisins, dark fruit, and hints of vanilla. Taste starts sweet, with bitter notes, and long length. Palate is velvety, and medium bodied. Black, with a frothy head.
