Bottle at RBSG, thanks to TimE (I think). Dark brown cody with some caramel light at the edge of the liquid. Juicy gummy flavor, with some cannibus and milk flavors. Lacking any stout characteristics. Very watery, oily and slick. Dirty and gritty in the finish. Not a good beer.

Bottle from the brewery. Pitch black with a very tall, fine, tan head. Creamy roasted aroma with lots of chocolate, a touch of coffee, nuts, and a touch of sweetness. Quite dry flavor, but very creamy, well burnt, chocolate, more coffee, still a touch of sweetness, and more hops than usual for the style. Very well balanced. Dry, burnt, and sweet, but not too much of any. Dry, hoppy finish. Long-lasting bitterness coming from both. Very interesting and pleasant, characterful dry stout. I really like that tinge of chocolaty sweetness behind a generally dry flavor.

Draught @ Bakushu Club Popeye, Tokyo. Rated on 05.09.2011
Looks a lot like guinness. Aroma is roasted with hints of peat. Flavour is roasted with peat and some bitter coffee. Real-ale -like palate is a bit watery. A decent Guinness clone but the bitter coffee disturbs me a bit.

Bottle at home. Pours dark brown with a tan head. Aroma of malt, light chocolate, roasted malts, light coffee. Flavour is light moderate sweet and moderate to heavy bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

On tap at Popeyes in Tokyo. Dark purple to black with a modest head; really strangely watery texture, next to no carbonation; light but unconvincing peat and cocoa powder. Dull finish

(Bottle) Very dark brown colour, almost black, with frothy beige head. Malty, roasted nose with dark chocolate, black rye bread, coffee, liquorice, hints of dark fruit and a touch of soy sauce. Malty, roasted taste with coffee, dark chocolate, black rye bread, dried fruit, a touch of orange peel (or chocolate with orange) and a dry finish with a balanced roasted bitterness. Medium body, quite dry. Well balanced and tasty dry stout. Nice one.

RBSG 2005. Head is mostly diminishing. Body is dark brown. Aroma is moderately malty (roasted grain, chocolate), lightly yeasty (barnyard), with a note of wood. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately bitter. Light to medium body, watery texture, soft carbonation. Interesting aroma with...wild yeast? Nah, couldn’t be. A bit thin, but a nice balance. I must admit I rather liked this.

larsga (6809) - Oslo, NORWAY - JUL 27, 2013
Biggish beige head. Nearly opaque black body shows a bright red spot when held up against the sun. Roasty chocolatey aroma with mealy grainy earthy notes. Sweetish roasty earthy chocolate taste with mealy notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft mouthfeel. Dryish roasty earthy chocolate aftertaste with honey notes. Really nice. Highly drinkable, harmonic, and clean, with a strong flavour. (0.36l bottle, Systembolaget Nordstan, Göteborg.)

Radek Kliber (6710) - Toronto (Can) Krotoszyn (Pol), POLAND - JUL 23, 2005
Pours light brown, medium tan top. Woody, slightly smoky aroma that is supported loosely by malt base. Smoked malt, refreshing palate, and woody character with neat bitter to it. Not bad.
