COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The concept for our Single-Take Session Ale is this: a moderate gravity (11.7 P) Belgian-yeast fermented ale that enjoys lots of hop-flavor and hop-aroma character without exhibiting much hop-bitterness (only 20 IBUs). We want Single-Take to deliver a complex yet balanced flavor explosion that is bright and sprite and never fatiguing. A deft grist combination of floor-malted barley (Maris Otter and Bohemian Pilsner), wheat and rye provide the perfect stage upon which our whole hop actors (German Tettnanger, Czech Saaz, American Santiam and Amarillo) get to sparkle. Our Belgian yeast strain holds the entire flavor performance together with its firm, spicy and tart directorial oversight.

Bottle. Very carbonated pour, cloudy golden body, messy white head. Aroma is sweet and hoppy, citrus, light ginger. Brisk carbonation and a lighter body make for a gassy mouthfeel. Lemon-lime hop flavour, lightly spicy, low bitterness.

4.7% at Tadg’s draft pint 1100 yen with 200 yen off during happy hour. Great honey gold color with a piney + citrus hop aroma over a malty base. The taste is thin bodied, a bit watery but it has a bitting bitter start, biscuity middle & lingering sweet fruity finish. Pretty good, it would benefit from a fuller mouthfeel though... As it warms up it gets a bit of spiciness to it, nice.

Draught at Baird Bashamichi Taproom, Yokohama - RBJG#2. Cloudy amber - white head. Freshness, spicy notes, rye spicy, soapy, grassy, oiley notes, sweetness, light phenolic.

Bottle from Plonk. Would not have picked this for a Belgian, aromas and flavours seem more hop-driven. Fruity/citrusy, fresh grass aroma, light and easy drinking, certainly sessionable.

Tap at Bashamichi Taproom, Yokohama. Orange colour with a white head. Heavy lacing. Fruity aroma and a flavour.

Draft at the source. Cloudy orange color, thick white head, solid lacing. Aroma of white pepper and straw. Taste is subtle lemon and straw. Stays true to its name.

Draught at Bungalow in Kyoto. Light lemon flavor. There’s an odd tick at the end I find interesting. Very drinkable, but kind of boring.

Pours a hazy golden orange with a foamy white head. Aroma of champagne grapes, lime, some biscuity fruit sweetness & grass. Taste is very grassy up front and then just mild and thin the rest of the way except for a slight champagne like finish. Achieves what it wants for a session ale but the taste is too simple a d the high carbonation doesn’t help this beer.

Popcorn looming - a perfect beer to crush at high speed. Champagne grapes, lime, peaches, sharp artificial honey, lemon cookies. This got a whole hell of a lot better once I let it open up. Lime Pop Shoppe. The rate is light. Lime, zip, maybe a hint of licorice, orange. Mellow and a quick drinking brew. Time for scotch!

Foamy tan head under hazy yellow-amber body, quiet looking. Nose of classic Baird vinous hops and some biscuitty notes as well. Tart grassy hops up front leave a mild malt backbone, its calm and subdued, but at 4.5% session this is probably the idea, almost a mild Orval flavor or a hoppy golden ale.. Palate it a bit bubbily, and slightly soft. For a session its quite good, but beer lovers usually want more flavour. I bet its very nice on tap.
