The concept for our Single-Take Session Ale is this: a moderate gravity (11.7 P) Belgian-yeast fermented ale that enjoys lots of hop-flavor and hop-aroma character without exhibiting much hop-bitterness (only 20 IBUs). We want Single-Take to deliver a complex yet balanced flavor explosion that is bright and sprite and never fatiguing. A deft grist combination of floor-malted barley (Maris Otter and Bohemian Pilsner), wheat and rye provide the perfect stage upon which our whole hop actors (German Tettnanger, Czech Saaz, American Santiam and Amarillo) get to sparkle. Our Belgian yeast strain holds the entire flavor performance together with its firm, spicy and tart directorial oversight.

360ml brown bottle. Gold pour, small white head. Nose has lime and white grape notes, some caramel and yeast as well. Taste is dryish and clean, a bit of light caramel and mild citrus. Dry finish with minerals. Light mouthfeel with medium carbonation. Hoppy belgian yeasty pale ale, good, hop aromas seem to bleed away a bit too quickly, but a nice little ale, certainly sessionable.

Bottle, 10C. Hazy amber with a white head. Aroma of caramel, lemon pudding, spices/ rye, grapefruit. Light bodied. Sweetish caramel with a spicy rye kick, dry finish with low bitterness. Refreshing and characterful.

Tap. Didn’t do much for me. Soft and dull - abit grassy. A light phenolic yeast spices things up, but really nothing to write home about, especially with some of the fantastic hand pump beers circulating round the taprooms these days.

4.7% at Tadg’s draft pint 1100 yen with 200 yen off during happy hour. Great honey gold color with a piney + citrus hop aroma over a malty base. The taste is thin bodied, a bit watery but it has a bitting bitter start, biscuity middle & lingering sweet fruity finish. Pretty good, it would benefit from a fuller mouthfeel though... As it warms up it gets a bit of spiciness to it, nice.

Keg at Harajuku taproom. Slightly cloudy pale yellow colour with small white head. Aroma is yeasty, bit Orval like but not as funky, and a bit saison like. Also a touch of lemon and orange. Taste is nice and fruity and ultra drinkable. Feels very pleasant in the mouth. Slightly bittter finish. Lovely!

Popcorn looming - a perfect beer to crush at high speed. Champagne grapes, lime, peaches, sharp artificial honey, lemon cookies. This got a whole hell of a lot better once I let it open up. Lime Pop Shoppe. The rate is light. Lime, zip, maybe a hint of licorice, orange. Mellow and a quick drinking brew. Time for scotch!
