3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Poured out a hazy amber with a thick tan head that never fades. Honey, English malts - plenty of them, orange, ack ... stupid Leffe glass - why does this glass suck so much? Tasty citrus bitterness with a very solid warm toasty malt base, fruit starts with a champagne grape note and quickly gets steamrolled by a sharp, long lasting bitterness, grapefruit, orange. Long bitterness. Interesting aftertaste that I won’t describe because I am being watched....

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a hazy reddish, amber. Almost like a Weißen with some syrup added. Little head, but it stares at you somehow.
Nose is modest, dry grass, malted sweetness.
Taste is full with sorachi taking the forefront. Fruitiness, by stone fruits and a strange hint of strawberry. Bone dry hoppy finish.
Distinctive and original, but very filling. The lingering sweetness does not invite another order though.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle, 36cl. It’s almost clear in the glass, dark golden in color and topped by a big off-white head leaving lacings. Caramel maltyness, chewing gum and some resin on the nose. It’s a bit sweet on the palate, with a pleasant bitterness level, and some citrus peel. Full-bodied, dryish and nicely carbonated. Lasting bitterness in the finish. I guess this one suffers a bit from the long journey, but it’s a nice beer anyway. 120302

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle (Brewdog, Glasgow):
Fruity pine aroma that has a strong hop character and is laced with a solid helping of both spice and bitter notes and is somewhat sour right at the end.
Murky orange/amber colour with a wavy, foamy head that is off-white in colour with tingers of brown in it.
Strong hops to begin with along with mild pine notes and a nice, spicy flavour. There is some definite fruity flavours in the middle, mainly darkert summer fruits and possibly berries along with a further helping of spice.
Medium with a smooth mouthfeel and plenty of spice throughout. There is some bitterness towards the end and the alcohol content doesn’t seem to be hidden well at all, this one seems a lot stronger than the 6% abv. suggests.
Not your typical IPA style beer here and not really one I would class as an America style IPA despite what various sites online say. It wasn’t a bad beer but I felt the alcohol content could have been better hidden.
