3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Appearance alone makes me want to taste it. Aroma is hard to explain...I have all these images of rustic vegetable gardens and fields. Trying to pull a word from my brain and all I get is "Round". Taste is equally perplexing and enjoyable. This ale is smooth and relaxing while at the same time citrus and lively. Baird out did their selves with this one.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
"interesting brew. i can se why it scores high as a fruit ale...it’s more like a hoppy ipa that happens to have fruit. big hoppy aroma...tropical fruit and citrus peel. flavor has a house aspect and a decent malt backbone, but is still about the large amount of hops and the fruit. they go well together and i ended up liking this one. comprable, kinda sorta, to Aprihop."

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle from Yamaoka. Subtle nose of mikan and toffee. Mild carbonation with a creamy palate. The flavours went from fresh and zesty mikan to rounded sweet caramel as it warmed. Not bad, but not a real knockout.

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Great beer, but I don’t get the Mikan at all, maybe it’s ads complexity that otherwise wouldn’t be evident, but don’t expect to be tasting any Mikan here.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Mild mikan aroma. Caramel malt, mikan zest, citrus hops, dry bitter finish
Solid fruity ale, quite bitter but the mikan character still comes out nicely.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: FEB 23, 2014 On tap at Bungalow, 600 yen for 10 oz. It pours a great honey gold with a thick fluffy off-white head & a yeasty full mikan fruity aroma with some citrusy hop notes as well. Great smooth creamy mouthfeel. The taste is well balanced, earthy, mikan, citrus fruits, mild pine bitterness with biscuity malt notes in the finish. The earthiness almost has a chocolate or cacao quality to it. This one gets an A, great stuff!

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Strong mikan as well citrus peel in the aroma, but not overpowering or artificial. Some nutty honey malt in the smell as well. Taste has a pleasantly surprising amount of hop to it. Citrus is present but not as forward as in the aroma. Dry finish. Body is light but crisp. These kinds of beers are often gimmicky (I sort of imagined this to be artificial-citrus tasting and watery) but this was much better than I expected.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Hoppy aroma with lots of citrus peel. Mikan taste at the beginning but not as much as expected, followed by hoppy bitterness (no pine or floral, or even fruity really). Slightly sweet citrus finish. Much better than expected.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from App Vintner - I tried this one this past weekend, and I got the oranginess of the mikan, but that’s about it.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours hazy copper-orange with a bunch of floaties. Spicy aroma, with hints of citrus fruit. On the palate the beer is somewhat unassuming, with a light citric sweetness balanced by a hint of tartness. Caramel malt wades in the background. This pleasant and well-balanced, if not super-complex, brew is a perfect alternative to those even more insipid summer seasonals.
