4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 ChainGangGuy (3835) - Canton, Georgia, USA - DEC 17, 2011
633ml bottle - $9.49 at Hop City in Atlanta, Georgia.
Appearance: Pours a clouded (from some suspended yeast mini-morsels), orange-copper body with a goodly sized, frothed, near white head.
Smell: Fresh, juicy, inviting nose of citrus fruits from the mikans as well as the c-hops floated by biscuit toned malts, a trace of yeastiness, and a hint of dry honey.
Taste: A biscuity malt base with a faint toastiness at the edges and some honeyed sweetness upfront. Citrusy, floral hops with ample bitterness throughout. There’s a very, very mild tartness to that mikan fruitiness. Has some hint of lemon, grapefruit, and mandarin orange. Superbly fruity finish, still faintly tart and a bit bitter.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium-plus carbonation.
Overall: Pleasant tasting, crisp, and very refreshing, though a lessened ABV% would certainly help in that department.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Ernest (5182) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - SEP 27, 2011
Bottle.
Head is initially large, frothy, off-white, fully lasting.
Body is hazy light amber, bottle conditioned.
Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), lightly to moderately hoppy (grapefruit, apricot).
Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately bitter.
Medium body, velvety/watery texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic.
Ya know, I can’t really tell there’s any satsuma in this, and I loooooooove satsumas (easily my favorite type of orange). It just smells like citrusy-grapefruity hops. Pretty one-dimensional and dull in the nose, but this may not be the freshest sample...no oxidation notes though. Flavor balance is decent albeit a bit tart, which is to be expected with fruit additions. Forgettable, but looks fantastic.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 GT2 (3948) - Washington DC, USA - JUL 20, 2011
651mL thanks to Travlr. The pour is a cloudy, glowing, bright orange laden with loads of yeast particulate micro globules. A small, yellow head forms with poor retention. The nose is pink lemonade- fresh and citric. Taste is tart and has some Hitachino like notes (similar yeast or water profile?) like cedar and muted white vinegar. Citrus peel bitterness comes through with resinous wood. Dry mouthfeel with orange juice tartness. Pink lemonade still comes to mind more than satsuma, the fruit this is made with.
