COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
While many breweries feature a "flagship" brand that carries the main load in terms of production and sales, we at Baird Brewing view our entire year-round lineup as our "flagship" brand. Consequently, we aim to represent as broad a swath of the ale beer world within our year-round lineup as possible. This means that up and down our entire portfolio, the beer enthusiast will see represented a significant variation in flavor, aroma, color, turbidity, gravity and alcohol strength. Wheat King Ale finds its place in this lineup as the new lead-off hitter (our Ichiro, if you will). It is low in gravity (1.0420) and alcohol strength (ABV approximately 4.2%) but big in flavor production and refreshment. It is an ale of great versatility, flourishing most, however, in the roles of apertif, session beer, and drink companion to fish, poultry and lightly but zestily seasoned food dishes. While enjoying a depth and dynamism that make it a satisfying year-round libation, Wheat King Ale likely will dazzle you most with its refreshing qualities in hot and sultry weather (e.g. summer in Japan!). Wheat King Ale will become the table-setter for the Baird Beer year-round lineup. We hope and trust that you will enjoy!

Bottle. Hazy medium yellow, average white head. Gently fruity, light wheaty profile. Clean, if not somewhat low key. A better-than-average offering of a bland lacklustre style.

Bottle at The Foundry (Mohamed Sultan Rd), Singapore, 4% ABV
Cloudy dark blond color. The aroma is breadish, so the flavor; some wheat, no spices nor fruits; low bitterness.
Easy.

500 yen at Bungalow’s 1st Anniversary Baird tap takeover. 4.3% an opaque honey gold with a fluffy white head. A mild spicy clove aroma leads to a decent wheat beer taste with a strong malt foundation with spice & wheat notes overlying it. Pretty good but again it is undercarbed, possibly Bungalow has their tap system set too low & it isn’t carbonating the kegs right?

My Bottom Line:
Crunchy wheat and spicy noble hoppiness coalesce within this Wheat Ale’s fluffy mouthfeel sculpting a compelling quencher.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A creamy head of foam sits atop the cloudy honey gold.
-Mouthfeel is soft and ample. Increases drinkability.
-Delicate and very well crafted, this hits the spot as a first pint.
-Cereals are very well defined.
-Hops also offer light citrus edges.

On tap at Harajuku Taproom.

Tap@SomePubTokyo. Pretty standard Belgian Witbier except for the bitterness. Too much of that, what makes it unbalanced.

Good condition when I drunk it on tap. Soft wheat, honey and light grass clippings. Very smooth and quite full for such an ABV. Not a great deal going on, but a quintessential thirst quencher.

Tap at the Harajuku taproom. Pale blond cloudy, big white bubbly head. Aroma is wheat, not much else. Taste is creamy, wheat and flour, bit of banana, some sweetness. Touch of pepper/spice maybe. Biscuity malty finish. Quite satisfying and not bad at all.

Bottle. Cloudy, yellow colour. Aroma is great with grass and vegetables. Taste is a bit disappointing, watery and very little flavour. I did not enjoy this beer.
