COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Workingman’s Dark Mild is a session beer (ABV approximately 3.6%) robust in flavor. It introduces itself in autumn tones of amber-brown and with a proudly self-confident thick tan head of foam. Subtly rich notes of toffee, caramel and chocolate greet the olfactory senses. In the mouth, bready and biscuity notes join the ensemble. The feeling produced is one of wholesome satiation. But there is something more. A quietly playful underbelly of fruitiness (raisins and figs, perhaps?) sends the sweetness fleeing while summoning a zesty, refreshing character to lead the flavor enouement. The pint glass is empty and our day’s labor has been rendered all the more satisfying and worthwhile. Cheers to the Workingman!

Bottle sampled on 9/15/07: Pours a transparent dark copper amber with a nicely-lacing off-white head. Aroma of toasty grainy dark caramel and earthy malt. Body starts pretty thin and grainy pale malty with a touch of doughy character and a hint of milk chocolate. An ok mild.

Poured a lightly hazed deep amber color with an off-white head. Milk chocolate aroma. The flavor was on the light side. Notes of dry cocoa and a light roast. Some hops on the mildly bitter finish.

Bottle shared by daijokey... many thanks. Truly shocking how good this beer was. Dark brown colour with light chocolate and caramel over crisp crackery malts. Good body and surprisingly chewy flavour. A bit of huskiness and an earthy chocolatey finish. Very solid brew... I wish I could get my hands on more.

Thanks to daijokey for sharing - medium brown/amber pour, with a small ring of foam - rich aroma of cocoa and hazelnuts - soft mouthfeel - roasted nuts and dry cocoa, with a hint of bitterness to compliment the chocolate flavor - a touch vegetal in the finish - this is a really nice mild.

Thanks to daijokey for bringing this to JoeMcphee’s place for CaptainCougar come to NY gathering. This was one of many japanese beers that I was really happy to try. Thanks Wayne in particularly for this brew because it was my favorite. Imagine one needs to go to Japan to find a good mild. Color is brown, cannot see through it but still a lot of light edges. In general the beer is so light and easy drinking but yet full of plenty roast and chocolate flavors. Also, it never feels watery or cheap. I could probably drink this for hours.

TimE (2065) - Tokyo, JAPAN - NOV 6, 2006

UPDATED: AUG 16, 2008 Cloudy dark brown color. Light brown head. Malty, hints of toffee and espresso, but not too well balanced. Slightly sour chocolatey mouth. Dry malty finish. Update - this year’s is much better than last years. Very quaffable and balanced. Excellent session beer (this years is also only 3%). Rating is blend of two.
