Baja is now available in Indiana. It’s billed as Corona-on-a-budget. I taste tested it against Corona today. The only difference: Baja had a stronger aftertaste, maybe even a bit of alcohol. I think it’s better than Corona.

Proof that every milestone odesn’t have to have a memorable beer. Except this is my first Guatemala beer - I’m gittin’ my Guat on! Sorry. Anyway, this one poured a neon yellow with an acceptable sized white head. Decent aroma (nicely skunk-free) of corn, lemon and bread. Acceptable malty flavor and rather smooth, with the only drawback being an unpleasent sour, astringent finish. Better than expected.
2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 drpimento (1742) - La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA - JAN 4, 2006
Pours clear, yellow gold with some head that lasts a bit along with a bit of lace. Little too sweet, hint of hops, not too bad though. Ok finish. Had it at the Bodega downtown La Crosse 2 nites ago.

Small white head that didn’t last long. Pale, golden hay color - very clear. Very mild yeasty aroma. Flavor is a little bready with a slightly bitter and dry finish. Dull and boring

Can’t believe I found this at a local old steel town bar on Main Street in Aliquippa. Ubiquitous pale yellow american lager look. Slight off veggie cabage aroma, probably from the clear bottle. Industrial citrus flavor of beer. Typical central american lager flavors. Processed lager finish. Not too bad.

A sweeter, cornier version of a Corona that isn’t quite as mild. Didn’t try it with a lemon or lime, but that might be the ticket to dull sweetness a little as it is a bit overdone as well as help transition and maybe bury the aftertaste which is kind of harsh and

Yellow with a very thin white head. Extremely light, watery, with a hint of malt but not much else.

12oz bottle. Filtered with a pale golden hue. Slight ring of white head. Grainy bready almost burnt malt aroma. Slight hint of citrus. Typical corny flavor. Easy flavor and a typical south o’ the border style.

Pours a golden yellow with a white head. This is basically corona in every way even down to the similar bottle. Corny cheap taste with nothing really redeaming.

Allow us all to compliment those wily Mexicans, for they have managed to copy a true American macrobrew almost to perfection. Yes, this is indeed Mexican Miller. No head to speak of, the color of a dehydrated cat’s urine, and a flavor that manages to be mostly corn sweetness with a bitter edge that bespeaks something that I wish I could be certain are hops. Oh, and let us not forget the metallic tinge that one might guess comes from the rusty 55 gallon drums this shit is transported north in. In other words, a replication of Miller to perfection.
